The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, October 7 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club in Brewster. Potential regulatory changes for research and test reactors will be discussed.
The meeting is being held concurrently with the 2015 annual conference of the National Organization of Test, Research and Training Reactors, according to an NRC release. The meeting is a Category 2, meaning the public will have the opportunity to ask questions, comment and learn about proposed changes. The TRTR 2015 Conference is being held at Ocean Edge October 4-9.
The NRC regulates 42 research and test reactors, 31 of which are currently in operation, according to its website. The change are intended to "enhance the effectiveness and efficiency" of the commision's current regulations regarding research and test reactors.
The October 7 meeting will be available via webcast and teleconference. For more information about either of these options, click here. For reasonable accommodations for participating in the meeting in Brewster, contact Duane Hardesty at 301-415-3724 or duane.hardesty@nrc.gov.
