They don't give a damn because there are NO CONSEQUENCES!
Destroy the environment and walk away!
Pay a pittance of a penalty....no big deal!
This is just like Dirty Coal did when it destroyed communities with MOUNTAINTOP REMOVAL.
Who gives a damn? Not your Bought & Paid For Congress!

Richard C. Longworth: "In many cases, these would-be rulers had access to a captive media that created an alternative reality for their followers, as Fox News does for Trump. Hitler's Nazis had their own newspaper, the Volkischer Beobachter (People's Observer). Mussolini was an Italian newspaper editor before he became Il Duce. Silvio Berlusconi, no dictator but a Trump-like narcissist and charlatan, is the Rupert Murdoch of Italy and used his media empire to misrule Italy for nine years.
None of the dictators sneaked up on his country. Hitler wrote a book, "Mein Kampf," saying what he would do if he came to power, and then he did it. No one mistook Pinochet or the Greek colonels for civil libertarians. Like Trump, all gloried in their excesses. When the citizens of their countries cheered their rise to power, they knew — or should have known — what they were getting.
None did it alone. All had aides and hangers-on and sycophants, greedy for the money or power that goes with access to the throne. Most, no doubt, felt that their champions couldn't really be as bad as they seemed, or that the responsibility of high office would tame them. Some were enthusiastic drum-beaters — much like Sean Hannity today. Others put their party before their nation — like too many of our Republican leaders are doing now. Like the notorious German businessmen and generals of Hitler's time, all believed they could control the demagogue they helped gain power.
Invariably, these enablers felt that, as bad as their man was, the other side — usually socialists or other left-wingers — was worse. In this, they were wrong. Some, but not all, lived to regret their choice."
