Dear Friend,
Over 15,000 Scientists Just Issued a ‘Second Notice’ To Humanity. “Time is running out” to stop business as usual, as threats from rising greenhouse gases to biodiversity loss are pushing the biosphere to the brink. The new warning was published Monday in the international journal BioScience, and marks an update to the “World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity” issued by nearly 1,700 leading scientists 25 years ago.
The San Francisco-based 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Monday (Nov.13) allowed President Donald Trump’s Muslim travel ban 3.0 to go partially into effect, exempting persons with ‘bona fide relationships’ to the US. The Monday order means the ban will apply to people from Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia and Chad who do not have connections to the United States.
Also more stories from around the world.

Planetary Salvation Compromised By Activism Lite, Climate Lite, Anti-Apartheid Lite & Anti-War Lite Weakness
by Dr Gideon Polya
In the neoliberal War on Humanity and War on Terra, there are the Bad Guys (the neoliberals, One Percenters, Super Rich, US Alliance military, warmongers, moronic Trumpists, fascists, neo-Nazis, religious right, and genocidal Zionists) versus the Good Guys (the anti-war, anti-nuclear, anti-Apartheid, anti-discrimination, pro-environment social humanists). However the Good Guys have been severely compromised by many activists who are insufficiently activist or activism lite by being climate lite, socialism lite, anti-Apartheid lite, and anti-war lite.
Massive Overkill : Brought To You By The Nuclear-Industrial Complex
by William D Hartung
Until recently, few of us woke up worrying about the threat of nuclear war. Such dangers seemed like Cold War relics, associated with outmoded practices like building fallout shelters and “duck and cover” drills. But give Donald Trump credit. When it comes to nukes, he’s gotten our attention. He’s prompted renewed concern, if not outright alarm, about the possibility that such weaponry could actually be used for the first time since the 6th and 9th of August 1945.
Domination, Power And Control
by Sally Dugman
We need to reconsider our actions and choices like it or not. Except for the poorest of the poor, we all need to poste haste start working on fixing everything of major concern that seems to be going awry in the world as soon as possible. Especially we need to tame our individual and collective urge to have domination, power and control over everything else whether through war, lavish personal resource use that gobbles away the world or other means.

by Robert J Burrowes
So far this year, US police have killed 1,044 people. In contrast, from 1990 to 2016, police in England and Wales killed just 62 people. See ‘Fatal police shootings’.
Politics Not Appropriate For The Objective Classroom?
by Rachel Oxman
The article raises the question against allowing NY Times into class rooms. Should we allow any of our mainstream news papers into our class rooms, if we want to inculcate in our children the the spirit of critical thinking?
The Expensive Affirmation: Australia Says Yes To Same Sex Marriage
by Dr Binoy Kampmark
The overall figure was comfortable, though hardly dashing. 62 percent of Australians (7.82 million) decided that same sex marriage was a perfectly feasible, even desirable notion, while 38 percent (4.87 million) did not
The Fordist Academic
by Dr Binoy Kampmark
The modern academy, far from being immune to this rationalisation, has capitulated to the Fordist-Taylor approach with enthusiastic abandon. The Fordist academic is a spineless, compromised product, an offspring cowardly in meetings, a lazy collaborator seeking to maximise production gains with minimal effort and one suspicious of individuality.
The Trials of Benjamin Netanyahu: Corruption in Israel is Not Just an Israeli Issue
by Dr Ramzy Baroud
Whether the string of scandals, now hounding Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, lead to his sacking or not, it matters little. Though nearly half of Israelis polled last July – well before the scandals took a much dirtier turn – believe that Netanyahu is corrupt, a majority of Israelis said that they would still vote for him.
Canada’s Magnitsky Distraction From The Real World
by Jim Miles
Within the current globalized world, Canada still pretends to be a ‘peacekeeper’, a thin disguise for the maintenance of the failing New World Order advocated by U.S. neocons. Our financial and corporate structures are well intertwined, with Canada’s economy reliant on the U.S. for about seventy per cent of its trade.
“I’m Proud To Be A Christian Zionist”
by Dr Ludwig Watzal
For these words, Steve Bannon, the former chief strategist to President Donald J. Trump and currently Executive Chairman of Breitbart News Network, received standing ovations at the annual gala of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) at the Hyatt in New York City.
Raised To Rebel
by Budour Youssef Hassan
The Issawi family is as deeply engaged in this grassroots resistance effort as any in Issawieyh. Tareq, 77, and Layla Issawi, 70, have a large family. Six of their children – Rafaat, Medhat, Samer, Firas, Shireen and Shadi – have been imprisoned by Israel at different times; another, Fadi, was shot dead by Israeli soldiers when he was 16. Fadi was killed during protests in Jerusalem in response to the 1994 Ibrahimi mosque massacre in Hebron.
The Great October Revolution: The Languishing Labor
by Farooque Chowdhury
The tsarist Russia, the empire-system for which a section of today’s intellectuals feel love, was experiencing rapid capitalist expansion and growth till the World War I. Absence of profit wouldn’t have driven capitalists to the expansion. And, labor pushes up growth. And, having profit is impossible without toilers’ strained muscles and wet brows. And, the Great October Revolution is by the toilers.
After One Hundred Years Of The Russian Revolution, Where Does The Left Stand ?
by Sumanta Banerjee
The next generation of Communists will have to discard this notorious tradition of suppression of democratic rights, and open up space for both dissent within their ranks, and for open debate with their opponents.
Supreme Court Suggests Separate Schools For Children With Disabilities – Violation Of Equality Laws
by Sheshu Babu
Special schools lead to isolation and exclusion from society. Though disabled may feel bad and sensitive with certain acts of normal child, the interaction helps in co- operation and mingling becomes easier with continuous exposure. When both disabled and normal are given education in integrated schools, both learn to live with each other. This is more difficult when disabled have special schools. While growing in same conditions, children will acquaint each other’s social, economic and psychological conditions that would help in shaping life later on.
