JEREMY CORBYN

Political Provocateur
By Mark Williams
A Note to the Detractors
Jeremy Corbyn is the leader of the Labour Party. His job is to implement Labour Party policy. Labour Party policy is democratically decided at the party conference. Jeremy Corbyn can speak at the conference and influence the democratic decisions towards his own personal principles in that way. He is not solely responsible for the outcomes and the decisions don't always agree with his personal principles. Nonetheless, his job as leader is to represent the principles of the party, so he puts those first.
Some of you are confused about Corbyn's role. You seem to think that his job is to be a reactionary, narcissistic dictator like all the other leading politicians you have ever seen. You have come to expect arrogant, corrupt, self-serving, weathervane leadership because that's all you have ever known.
When you finally have a leader who rejects everything we detest about politicians, you can't cope! You don't even recognise genuine leadership when you see it, because Corbyn isn't wearing all the badges of power and dishonour that you associate with his position. No bullying. No power obsessed control freakery. No corruption. No war-mongering. No personal corporate interests. No millions in the bank. No arse-kissing given or tolerated. No prejudices. Just plain human decency in every aspect, and the best interests of the people of this country in mind, heart and soul.
Think again about what you really want. Corbyn may not be all things to all people, but he will do very nicely as far as I'm concerned.
