Flip the switch. The lights come on. Little thought is given to the fuel used to illuminate that light. Little thought is given to health and safety, Moutaintop Removal and Dirty Coal .

What if there was no power plant?
A Call to Action and a Redevelopment Plan
Vision for Salem hosts a panel to discuss Salem Harbor after the power plant closes down.
Speakers include Conservation Law Foundation and the Brattle Group, who will release an economic feasibility study about redevelopment of the 65 acre waterfront site.
Dominion says they will stay until 2012. With three wrongful death lawsuits pending, the Regional Greenhouse Gas Iniative and tighter clean air regulations coming in 2012, will Dominion close the plant? They have not upgraded it as they have their Brayton Point plant. They have done the minimum and are barely within the law.
The plant was built in 1951 to last 30 years. Does Salem have a plan for jobs and taxes once the plant leaves?
Please join us to discuss these pressing issues.
