The gentle Mastiff who was
abandoned on a back road in Franklin, New York, is ready for adoption according to the Delaware Valley Humane Society.
The large dog, now named Benny or "Big Ben", was found on December 7 by Julia VanSteenburg, a Delaware County animal control officer, by the side of the road with bowls of food and water lying next to him.
Officer VanSteenburg said when she first approached the large dog, he was initially nervous. "He growled at me at first, but he warmed up quickly." She added, "He just stayed on the road like he expected whoever brought him there was coming back to get him. He really didn’t want to leave that spot."
She took the loyal dog to the
Delaware Valley Humane Society in Sidney where he has been held for 10 days while authorities tried to find his owner. Although there were a few leads that indicated the dog may have been from the Kingston area, the owners were not located.
Authorities continue to investigate and the case is being treated as an animal cruelty investigation. (Anyone with information about the brindle-colored Mastiff or his owner are asked to call state police in Sidney at 607-561-7400 or contact Officer Julia VanSteenburg at (607) 369-3498.)
Benny has since been neutered and is in good health and the Humane Society describe him as super sweet. They are now accepting adoption applications for Benny and plan to select his adoptive family by the end of the week.
If you are interested in applying to adopt Benny contact the Delaware Valley Humane Society at 607-563-7780 and visit their
website for details.

She is so sweet with such lovely manners I wanted to whisk her away right then and there. Ginger walks nicely on the leash, sits on command, takes treats gently, and appears to be housetrained. She is polite and gentle in everything that she does. Ginger wants nothing more than nutritious food, a warm bed and someone to love her. She is so easy to love and when you come meet her you will want to take her home and spoil her. She deserves it. Ask to meet Ginger today.
There are endless excuses for giving up a family member. No time, personal problems, moving, having a baby, inadequate facility. None of these excuses do anything to soothe or mollify the family member who is left picking up the pieces..by themselves. Red Bear was brought in to the Brooklyn Center with his housemate Derry. Red Bear is 8 and Derry is 12 and that is a very, very long time for a dog to be with a family. Red Bear has lost everything and it probably only took about an hour for his world to come crashing in. He's an adorable brown pit with jowls you just want to pinch and a face cute enough to kiss endlessly. Now, this handsome guy is going to lose his life and there is no excuse for that. Please help Red Bear, he could use an angel right now

**POUND FULL*** Chase is an absolutely adorable pup! This gorgeous guy is still very young and loves to just "be a puppy" the volunteers enjoy watching him run back and forth outside in his pen- The other dogs enjoy him to because they join in and "follow" what Chase is doing in his pen- He is the "life" of the "pound party" and needs a home-- The cages are packed at Stark and space must be made or we will lose some of these babies :(

Look into Bingo's eyes, you can see he's longing for a home with someone who is committed to him. Once upon a time Bingo had a home, someone taught him to "sit" and "down" but now he's homeless now and needs someone to step up to save his
life. Bingo is a big hunk of a dog and was very friendly with the assessor. He got good marks on his behavior evaluation but now he's caught the dreaded kennel cough and for that he will die. Bingo is only 2 years old, too young to die for something so easily cured. Tomorrow they will drag Bingo to the room where the killing happens just because he has a cold. Please share this boy all over so we can find him a place to go before its too late!
