Big financial institutions often abuse
consumers and wrongly downgrade our credit. Also, people looking for
jobs shouldn't get penalized for losing their home in the 2008 Wall Street
collapse. We should be helping them succeed.
When employers use credit scores in hiring,
they often reject very qualified people. This practice disproportionately hurts
minorities and the working poor, and keeps people unemployed.
This week, Senator Elizabeth Warren
introduced the Equal Employment for All Act, which prevents employers from
looking at credit reports when hiring.
Sign the petition to Senator Warren's colleagues: Credit checks for employment needlessly harm those who need jobs most. People's experiences with medical debt, student debt, or other economically challenging circumstances should not stop them from getting a job.
Please support Senator Elizabeth Warren's mission to end this appalling practice through the Equal Employment for All Act.
