13 Were Exposed to Radiation at New Mexico
Plant 27 Feb 2014 Thirteen workers
at the nation's underground nuclear waste dump in southeastern New Mexico have
tested positive for radiation exposure after a recent leak released toxic radioactive particles in and
around the plant, officials announced. The accident is [allegedly] the
first-known release of radiation since the dump near Carlsbad began taking
plutonium-contaminated waste from the nation's nuclear bomb building sites 15
years ago. It came just nine days after a truck hauling salt in the plant's deep
mines caught fire, but officials say they are confident the incidents are
unrelated.
New tests show
elevated radiation near WIPP
24 Feb 2014 New test results indicate "slightly elevated" levels of airborne
radiation near a nuclear waste repository in southeast New Mexico, the U.S.
Department of Energy said Monday. Samples taken from spots on and around the
Waste Isolation Pilot Plant outside Carlsbad show radiation levels below those
considered a public or environmental hazard [?!?], the DOE said in a
statement.

home after he was released from a Washington, D.C., hospital on Thursday, a
spokeswoman said, hours after Holder was admitted for feeling faint and short of
breath.

Feb 2014 U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was in good condition after being
taken to a Washington, D.C., hospital on Thursday for feeling faint and short of
breath during a morning meeting with his staff, his office said. "He is
currently resting comfortably and in good condition. He is alert and conversing
with his doctors," according to a statement from his office. Holder, 63, is an
appointee of President Barack Obama and has been the head of the U.S. Justice
Department since 2009.

Colorado judge on Thursday set an October 14 trial date for James Holmes, who is
accused of killing 12 moviegoers in a shooting spree [false flag] at a Colorado
cinema in 2012. Arapahoe County District Court Judge Carlos Samour delayed the
start of the trial, initially scheduled for March, because of ongoing legal
wrangling over Holmes's sanity and other issues.
Bridge scandal: Newly uncensored texts show Wildstein, Kelly
mocked rabbi 27 Feb 2014 Newly
uncensored records released today by the
legislative panel investigating the George Washington Bridge lane closings show
David Wildstein and Bridget Anne Kelly, two people at the center of the scandal,
joked about causing traffic problems for a prominent New Jersey rabbi. On Aug.
19, six days after Kelly e-mailed Wildstein stating, "Time for some traffic
problems in Fort Lee," the pair exchanged texts about causing transit delays for
Orthodox Rabbi Mendy Carlebach of the Chabad of North & South Brunswick, a
chaplain for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department and
a close Christie ally.

back his embattled Port Authority chairman "strong and firmly," telling New
Jersey 101.5 that he remains confident in David Samson's ability to preside over
the bi-state agency despite the view of its executive director that Samson lacks
the necessary moral authority... A series of recent reports have revealed that
Samson's law firm, Wolff & Samson, has represented clients that have
benefited from Port Authority actions. Samson has defended his ethics as
chairman.
David Samson's business interests overlap with work at Port
Authority 23 Feb 2014 As chairman of
the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, David Samson voted to award
millions of d-llars in Port Authority contracts to a company whose owner is
represented by Samson's law firm in a hotly contested and lucrative legal fight.
In the three years since Samson took over at the bistate agency, the
Paterson-based Railroad Construction Company Inc. has received nearly $16
million in work on projects ranging from the World Trade Center to the
Hackensack River Bridge, according to a Star-Ledger review of meeting minutes
and contracts listed on the Port Authority’s website. The most recent contract
was awarded last month, according to the website.
Kentucky Seeks Delay in Recognizing Same-Sex
Marriage 27 Feb 2014 Kentucky's
attorney general asked a federal judge on Thursday to delay by 90 days an order
requiring the state to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states
and countries. The two-page filing says the delay is sought to give the attorney
general time to decide whether to appeal the Feb. 12 ruling and would give the
state an opportunity to prepare to implement the order. The request came as
parties in the case awaited a final order from U.S. District Judge John G.
Heyburn II overturning part of Kentucky's same-sex marriage ban.

a virtual visit to wild polar bears on the tundra via Google Street View. The
stunning tundra landscape of Cape Churchill and Wapusk National Park in Northern Manitoba -- polar bears and all -- went online today in
honour of International Polar Bear Day. "I think the whole thing is going to be really exciting," said
Krista Wright, executive director of the conservation group Polar Bears
International, which partnered with Google on the project.
