Corporations
and other outside groups spent over one billion dollars in the 2012 elections,
and we cannot let that happen again. As it stands, anonymous and secretive
interest groups can give unlimited contributions without disclosing a single one
of their donors.
In Citizens United, the
Supreme Court created this system that is fundamentally at odds with our
American values. It's our job to fix that. The undeniable fact that we
don't know if the corporations we buy from are financing these shady ads is
simply unacceptable.
Every American voter pays the
price for this system. Each of us deserves to know more information before we
cast our ballots. Join Senators Coons, Heitkamp, Klobuchar, Manchin, Warner
and me in adding your name - right now - to ensure Congress takes a stand
against secret money now.
It is against American values
for corporations and other groups to spend millions influencing elections just
to increase their profits. When I invest in a company or shop at a store, I want
to know if that group is using my money to finance secretive - and often untrue
- ads.
We are facing an onslaught of
negative campaign ads like we've never seen before. That's because of the
actions of corporations, not individual voters. This interferes with the
democratic process, and it's up to us to remedy the current system.
Join with me in declaring
that corporations should not have hidden, unlimited influence in elections. Call
on Congress to stand up to corporations - sign my petition against secret money
in elections, right now.
Thank you,
Bob
