Brooke Baldwin, covering breaking news of the school shooting in Marysville,
Washington, announces that she has a live update regarding the events. Baldwin
said she's been just handed a paper with new information, which she will read on
the air. She asks for viewers to "bear with her," as she reads it "cold." She
reads: "Marysville Police Department will be holding a SWAT training
--" Baldwin then interrupts herself. "Oh. This is from yesterday."

Emergency Agencies Practice Response to Nuclear Explosion in Times
Square 22 Oct 2014 The New York City
region's emergency agencies are practicing for a disaster. The city's Office of
Emergency Management ran a training exercise Wednesday that simulated a response
to a 10-kiloton nuclear device exploding at 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue in
Times Square, WCBS 880 reported. According to the exercise, 100,000 people were
instantly killed; a wave of overpressure took down buildings for a half-mile
radius and did damage for up to two miles; and a radiation cloud swept over the
region. [You know it's just a matter of time before the dirt-bags 'go
live,' as they did on 9/11. They keep practicing and practicing until the drill
goes live. --LRP]
State Orders 9 Quarantined Amid Ebola
Concerns 22 Oct 2014 Nine people are being
quarantined in the state so they may be monitored for possible exposure to
Ebola, state health officials said Wednesday. The Department of Public Health
has issued four quarantine orders, involving the nine unidentified individuals,
said DPH spokesman William Gerrish...Guidelines issued last week by Gov.
Dannel P. Malloy (D) said that those who have returned to Connecticut from West
Africa and are sick "will be sent to a hospital" for isolation and
treatment. For those returning travelers who aren't sick, "you will be
required to stay at home for 21 days and take your temperature twice a day."
During this quarantine, state public health personnel "will contact you twice a

After 1st Ebola case in NYC, 3 others
quarantined 23 Oct 2014 A doctor [Craig
Spencer], who became New York City's first Ebola patient was praised for getting
treatment immediately upon showing symptoms, and health officials stressed that
the nation's most populous city need not fear his wide-ranging travel in the
days before his illness began. Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo urged
residents not to be alarmed by the doctor's diagnosis Thursday, even as they
described him riding the subway, taking a cab and bowling since returning to New
York from Guinea a week ago...The city's health commissioner, Mary Bassett, said
Spencer's fiancée and two friends had been quarantined but showed no
symptoms.
New York Doctor's Ebola Shows Need for Quarantine, GOP Lawmaker
Says 24 Oct 2014 Doctors returning from
treating Ebola patients in West Africa should be quarantined for at least three
weeks, Representative Jason Chaffetz said today as Congress held a second
hearing on the response to the virus's outbreak. Chaffetz, a Utah Republican,
said a New York City doctor's self-monitoring for Ebola symptoms after he
returned to the U.S. "didn't work." Doctors should be in "some sort of
quarantine or isolation" for 21 to 42 days, he said.

Patient in New York City Tests Positive for
Ebola 23 Oct 2014 A doctor in New York City
who recently returned from treating Ebola patients in Guinea tested positive for
the Ebola virus Thursday, becoming the city’s first diagnosed case. The doctor,
Craig Spencer, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital on Thursday and placed in
isolation while health care workers spread out across the city to trace anyone
he might have come into contact with in recent days. A further test will be
conducted by the federal Centers for Disease Control to confirm the initial
test. Even as the authorities worked to confirm that Mr. Spencer was infected
with Ebola, it emerged that he traveled from Manhattan to Brooklyn on the subway
on Wednesday night, when he went to a bowling alley and then took a taxi
home.

US lobbying against international post-Fukushima nuclear safety
step 23 Oct 2014 The United States is
lobbying against an amendment to an international nuclear safety pact proposed
by Switzerland, which Berne argues could help prevent Fukushima-style disasters
but which may also increase industry costs, diplomats said. Atomic energy powers
Russia and Canada have also signaled opposition to the measure, which would put
pressure on countries to upgrade existing nuclear plants and reach the safety
requirements of new-generation reactors.

in Vancouver on Dec. 16, 2011, which court records indicate may have been an
attempt to get help.
