Toyota is calling back 5,000 Prius V vehicles to fix an issue with the occupant detection system that may cause the passenger airbag to not deploy.
In the affected vehicles, which come from the 2014 and 2015 model year, the occupant detection system in the front passenger seat was not calibrated correctly, which means that the passenger-side airbags may not deploy even if there is someone seated there.
Toyota says that it doesn’t know of any injuries or collisions that resulted from this issue.
Toyota dealers will recalibrate the system free of charge to fix the problem.
