Pro-Cape Wind pinwheel rally set for Feb. 28 at Boston Common

DIRTY COAL:

WOULDN'T YOU RATHER?:

Why would you support the DIRTY ENERGY KOCH BROTHERS?

Pro-Cape Wind pinwheel rally set for Feb. 28 at Boston Common

Better Future Project hopes to draw supporters, convince utilities to reinstate Cape Wind contract
On Saturday, February 28 at 1 p.m. hundreds of people are expected to gather on Boston Common in support of Cape Wind. During the "Wind Turbines, Not Gas Pipelines" rally supporters of the wind farm project will ask National Grid (MA) President Marcy Reed to reinstate the utility's contract with Cape Wind.

In January, National Grid and Eversource (formerly NSTAR) canceled their contracts to purchase power from Cape Wind. The utilities said Cape Wind had missed contract deadlines to secure financing and begin construction. Cape Wind countered saying the contract cancelations were not valid.

This week Spectra Energy announced that National Grid signed onto the Access Northeast gas pipe line expansion project. The project has a tentative in-service date of November 2018, according to Spectra.

Following a brief rally, Cape Wind supporters will plant 130 oversized pinwheels in the snow on the Common to symbolize the 130 turbines that comprise the Cape Wind offshore wind project on Nantucket Sound.

The rally is being organized by Better Future Project. Supporters are asked to RSVP here (see carpool information here). Supports of Cape Wind--those who can and those who cannot make it to the rally--are asked to sign the online petition asking Reed to reinstate the National Grid contract with Cape Wind. As of Saturday evening, the online petition already had 2,222 signatures.

Several other non-profits have partnered with Better Future Project to support Cape Wind including Mothers Out Front, Climate Action Business Association, Jewish Climate Action Network, Healthlink, UU Mass Action and the Massachusetts Climate Action Network. The event is sponsored by Clean Water Action and endorsed by Commit2Respond and Environment Massachusetts.

New England is blessed [or cursed] with a wonderful old housing stock that is woefully ENERGY INEFFICIENT.

No discussion about ENERGY from whatever source is complete without addressing ENERGY EFFICIENCY [we used to called it ENERGY CONSERVATION until it provoked images of sitting in the dark].

This winter should put folks on notice.
Drive around and look at the roofs of homes. Look at your own roof.
Not only do you see the outlines of structures on roofs, but many roofs are BARE!

How is that possible when others have so much SNOW and ICE, they're threatened with collapse?
It's called INADEQUATE INSULATION!

ANY measures you take to reduce energy consumption, such as insulation is PERMANENT! It continues to reduce your energy bills each year.

Let's say you invest $500 to insulate your attic.
You find that saves you $1,000 next year.

Take that savings and invest in interior storm windows or triple glazed windows.
We installed Paradigm Windows, made in Maine and they're wonderful!

Of course, you're already wise enough to have installed CFLs or LEDs, put your Energy Guzzlers on plug in strips you can shut off and you've improved the weatherstripping.

And investigate solar panels!

FOR EVERY ISSUE, THERE ARE PAID SHILLS WHO PROMOTE CORPORATE INTERESTS.
DON'T BE MISLED BY THEIR PRETENSE!

NortheasternEE,

You really should disclose your employer!
You're nothing more than a PAID DIRTY ENERGY SHILL!
You're a broken record sounding the same failed theme over and over as a review of your posts clearly reveals.

COAL IS DIRTY!
COAL IS DIRTY from MOUNTAINTOP REMOVAL to the COAL ASH it leaves behind in unlined pits threatening drinking water.

This is MASSACHUSETTS COAL ASH [from 2011 - figures surely outdated]:
BRAYTON POINT 190,000,000
POUNDS
SOMERSET 60,100,000 POUNDS
SALEM HARBOR 140,800,00
POUNDS
WEST SPRINGFIELD 40,000,000 POUNDS
MOUNT TOM 75,200,000
POUNDS

This entire region has suffered from the health consequences of AIR POLLUTION of one of the DIRTIEST POWER PLANTS in New England. .

FRACKING:
Anyone sitting in front of a computer knows the environmental destruction caused by FRACKING - and anyone with a brain knows you can't simply argue CLEAN BURNING and destroy drinking water inter alia.

The record for NUCLEAR ENERGY speaks for itself!

Pilgrim Nuclear is the same age, same design as FUKUSHIMA.

The rest of the world is moving forward as the Dirty Energy Shills post propaganda and misinformation.
