We've heard a lot from Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress about the need to keep refugees fleeing violence in the Middle East from coming to our country.
Too dangerous they claim -- even though it takes two years of investigation and interviews before they are admitted.
But inexplicably, they defend the "terror gap," a known loophole in our laws that lets known and suspected terrorists pass a background check and buy a gun -- a process that can take as little as six minutes.
Tonight, the Senate is set to vote on legislation that would close that loophole, and they need to hear from us before they do:

We know that terrorists are encouraging their followers in the United States to exploit the Gun Show Loophole to buy weapons legally.
"America is absolutely awash with easily obtainable firearms. You can go down to a gun show at the local convention center and come away with a fully automatic assault rifle, without a background check, and most likely without having to show an identification card. So what are you waiting for?" - Former American-born al-Qaeda spokesperson
Congress can close this loophole and ensure people on the terrorist watch list are unable to legally buy guns. If you can't fly, you shouldn't be able to buy. It's just common sense.

Veterans have a very important voice in this debate. And in the wake of last week's tragic massacre at an Orlando nightclub -- one committed by someone who was once on an FBI watch list -- it's important we speak up before the vote.
All our best,
