Trump’s Speech In Riyadh Signals US Escalation Against Iran
by Bill Van Auken
Riddled with hypocrisy, clichés and absurdities, President Donald Trump’s speech Sunday before an assembly of monarchs and despots in Saudi Arabia spelled out an agenda of escalating US militarism throughout the Middle East and a buildup in particular toward war with Iran.
Back to Realpolitik: Trump in Saudi Arabia
by Dr Binoy Kampmark
The business of making money on property, badly, has shifted to the business of making money, greatly, for the US industrial arms complex. This is the technique of President Donald Trump, who has been making various gestures, sword and wallet in hand, to various selected allies in the Middle East.
Trump in Riyadh And Oil Wars
by Professor Francis A Boyle
Trump is just another White Racist Iron Fist for Judeo-Christian U.S. Imperialism and Capitalism all over the world. Trump forthrightly and proudly admitted that the United States is in the Middle East in order to steal their oil. At least he was honest about it. Unlike his predecessors who lied about it going back to President George Bush Sr. with his War for Oil against Iraq in 1991.
Getting Julian Assange: The Untold Story
by John Pilger
Julian Assange has been vindicated because the Swedish case against him was corrupt. The prosecutor, Marianne Ny, obstructed justice and should be prosecuted. Her obsession with Assange not only embarrassed her colleagues and the judiciary but exposed the Swedish state’s collusion with the United States in its crimes of war and “rendition”.
Truth or Delusion?
by Robert J Burrowes
One inevitable outcome of the phenomenal violence we all suffer as children is that most of us live in a state of delusion throughout our lives. This makes it extraordinarily difficult for accurate information, including vital information about the endangered state of our world and how to respond appropriately, to penetrate the typical human mind.
The Death of Gaia
by Dr Glen Barry
Old-growth forest logging must end. Natural ecosystems be restored. Fossil fuels ended. A steady state economy achieved. And equity, peace, and justice embraced. Or Gaia dies. And being ends. Only profound, radical, science-based social change that embraces a deep ecology vision of a living Earth, by reversing natural ecosystem loss, will prove adequate to avoid biosphere collapse.
Israel’s Genocide Towards Palestinian Arabs
by Irwin Jerome
The ultimate questions that always have to be answered about the ethnic-cleaning, genocidal actions of whatever conquering, imperialistic power begins with asking, “When does all the ethnic-cleansing turn into genocide? How many must die to qualify the difference? Who decides? How arbitrary are such distinctions?” If a whole village or town is massacred, like at Kafir Qasim and other villages, does that qualify as genocide in the specific or in the main?
The Illyrians – Autochthonous Balkan People
by Prof Dr Vladislav B Sotirovic
The name Illyrians disappeared in the 7th century at the time of the Slavic migrations to the Balkans. After the 6th century, however, Byzantine texts do not record any accounts of Illyrians abandoning Balkan territories from the Dalmatian Alps to the Danube. The new Illyrian political and cultural centre became the region of Arbanum (in Greek, Αρβανον or Αλβανον, in Serbian, Рабан) in the Southern Albania.
Happiness In The (Un)Real World, (Un)Happiness In The Real World
by S G Vombatkere
In a first in India, the Government of Madhya Pradesh (GoMP) has set up an “Anand Mantralaya” (Ministry of Happiness) with the Chief Minister himself in charge, and a “Rajya Anand Sansthan” (State Institute of Happiness), headed by a CEO, but how real is this?
Connecting ‘Silos’: Interdependence Is Key To #EndTB in Sustainable Development Era
by Bobby Ramakant
As our governments meet at the ongoing 70th World Health Assembly (#WHA70) to decide the agenda for the World Health Organization (WHO) and to elect its new Director General, we do hope they also prioritise inter-sectoral programming beyond ministries of health so that TB declines at the required rate to end TB as envisaged. Current TB decline rates are a fraction of the required rate for TB decline in order to end TB by 2030.
