Billerica bans texting by selectmen at meetings
BILLERICA — Members of the Billerica board of selectmen will have to TTYL.
The board voted 3-2 Monday night to ban its members from sending text messages and e-mails during its public meetings.
Selectman Bob Correnti said he proposed the ban after a resident complained to him that it was annoying to see fellow Selectman Marc Lombardo texting while others were speaking.
Correnti also said he was concerned that text messages could become public records.
.
Middleboro isn't the only town that has immature members on their Board.
.
Next time you see Middleboro Selectman Steven Spataro text messaging during a BOS meeting, keep in mind that it MAY be public record.

After last night's meeting this was a good laugh.
I would never use the word immature to describe Spataro. Words more appropriate are STUPID, UNCARING, DISRESPECTFUL, ARROGANT, MORON and USELESS. I think his age is way past immature. When thinking immature, I think of a child not acting nor behaving their age. We are talking about a grown man with no class nor respect for the taxpayers.
Some much for Steve's Big Leagues! Voters should witness his outbursts to see why he doesn't belong on that board.
It made no sense that he got elected the first time for Wiksten's interim term. It made less sense when he got reelected except the G&E employees were appreciative that he saved their jobs. That's Steve! Always one to save jobs! Screw the costs!
Man has no brains. Time for change. Let him text message from home. Oh, wait a minute. Maybe it's his wife who's text messaging.
I can't wait to hear the spin the board of buffoons puts on this. Will Marsha request an opinion from local town counsel Dan Murray? Will Mimi solicit the opinion of Steve Graham or from Helen Belmont whose relationship remains murky? Casino vampire Wittlesey seems to have publicly opined - dead in the water. Looks like we need to attend or watch the bob meeting.
If we had a board with brains this would not have been an issue. How many nights was Bond like a yo yo making cell phone calls? When you're as important as he is, it's difficult to commit the time to a meeting without interruption. Now he can answer it at Honey Dew.
Corruption transpired in front of them and they didn't see it. The problems run much deeper than we think.
