By James Cogan
http://www.countercurrents.org/cogan270614.htm
The war raging in Iraq between a Sunni uprising led by the extremist Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and the Shiite-dominated government in Baghdad—and the effective disintegration of the Iraqi nation-state it has caused—has drawn in not only the United States but, inexorably, countries across the Middle East and around the world

By Soraya Sepahpour-Ulrich
http://www.countercurrents.org/ulrich270614.htm
What is the purpose behind tweeting gruesome images of mass killings in Iraq; proposing that Westerners are being recruited, and in some cases, ‘ordered to go back to Britain' to continue the ‘jihad'; prompting the British PM David Cameron to warn that ‘jihadist were planning to attack Britain' ( The Telegraph )? Regardless of where these tweets are being originated, one must surely wonder Cui bono?

By Judy Bello
http://www.countercurrents.org/bello270614.htm
Let the Iraqis and the Syrians have a chance to restore their countries and their lives. We don't own them. We haven't earned even the privilege to call ourselves their friends. Let us give them the freedom to make their own choices and solve their own problems. Cede to them their right to self determination. That is what we really owe them

A Revolution Of Ideas Is Needed: The Time For Change Is Now
By Graham Peebles
http://www.countercurrents.org/peebles270614.htm
Worldwide, life is dominated by an unjust economic model – beloved by all colours on the political spectrum, which has infiltrated every area of life. The preeminent concern of 99% of humanity is the practicalities of daily living – how to pay for food and shelter, education and health care, water and sanitation. There is no time or energy for living, for creativity and self-enquiry, for exploring one's nature and the world
4 % Annual Global Wealth Tax To Stop The 17 Million Deaths Annually
By Dr Gideon Polya
http://www.countercurrents.org/polya270614.htm
An annual global wealth tax of about 4% would yield US$16 trillion annually and enable raising all countries to annual per capita incomes equivalent to the $6,000 per person per year of China and Cuba, countries for which annual avoidable mortality is zero (0) . This is a feasible option for stopping the Global Avoidable Mortality Holocaust
Fighting Sexual Violence In A Country Whose Police Doesn’t Respond To Distress Calls
By Samar
http://www.countercurrents.org/samar270614.htm
Harsher laws is not going to curb sexual violence in India. Only thing that can is radical restructuring of the criminal justice system by making it responsive and responsible. Having dedicated teams to respond to emergencies might be a beginning but until and unless impartial investigations ending in speedy convictions become the norm, nothing will change on the ground
