Inside the Koch Brothers' Secret Billionaire Summit

Our Creative Director, Lauren Windsor, who is also the Executive Producer of the Undercurrent on The Young Turks Network, talked to sources at the Koch summer seminar this past weekend at the St. Regis resort in Dana Point, California, and she uncovered some pretty juicy intel on the billionaire brothers’ plans for the upcoming elections, all of which can be read in her article in The Nation.

According to one of her sources, 300 individuals - worth at least one billion dollars each - are trying to raise $500 million to take control of the Senate, and another $500 million “to make sure Hillary Clinton never becomes president." While the 300 figure is likely an exaggeration, given that there are 492 billionaires in the United States, the fundraising goals probably aren't.

She also got the skinny on which legislators spoke -- Representatives Tom Cotton (AR), Cory Gardner (C), Jim Jordan (OH), as well as Senators Mitch McConnell (KY) and Marco Rubio (FL), three of whom are running for Senate this year. McConnell spoke in a discussion titled “Free Speech: Defending First Amendment Rights,” presumably in reference to his defense of deregulating campaign finance. You see, it’s McConnell who is leading the fight in the Senate to keep big money in politics, and his attending a political strategy summit where mega-donors are fighting to keep their influence in our electoral process illustrates the power and access of the wealthy elites versus everyday Americans... And it’s why we must fight back.

Can you please support our efforts to shine a light on the corruption of our political process? All we ask is that you take a minute to read the article for yourself, and then like and share it on Facebook to spread the word to your friends... Let’s tell DC loud and clear - “Kick your Koch habit!"
