Now let's do the same for corporations and churches!!
Ross Bowman Jr.
There are certainly "for profit" churches, especially those Evangelical ones in the south. Like anything there would need to be a threshold of income vs taxation, and you could still deduct charitable work.

Now for the corporations and billionaires...and some churches (those who preach politics and have state of the art sound systems, lighting, stages and use the media to make money)

This only affects the league, not the teams. Teams are separate for profit entities that make their major money by the tax deductible depreciation of their players. When some accountant designed a depreciation schedule for players, and the IRS didn't win, the value of the franchises exploded. Now, the Chamber of Commerce uses the same tax code section to maintain their exemption from federal and state income tax. The NFL isn't the only big money entity using tax code section 501c4 to avoid taxes.
VICTORY: Under pressure, NFL forfeits its tax-exempt status |
This is huge: The NFL just announced that it is giving up its tax-exempt status and will begin to pay its fair share of taxes.1 This wouldn’t have happened without the hard work and persistence of activists like you. More than 434,000 CREDO activists have taken action over the last two years to pressure the NFL to give up its tax exempt status. This isn’t just a win for taxpayers across America. This victory proves that when progressive activists fight for what’s right, we win. Help us spread the word about this important victory.
