Karl Rove's slimey career has been filled with Dirt Ball Tactics learned under the tutlelage of the Late Lee Atwater, the King of Slime.
We can stop this Slime Ball!
Karl Rove hasn’t changed a bit.
This week his group, American Crossroads, released an ad attacking Hillary Clinton using audio of a speech Elizabeth Warren gave at our New Populism conference.
As the New York Times described it, “Powerful interests have tried to capture Washington and rig the system in their favor,” intones Ms. Warren, as images of Mrs. Clinton with foreign leaders flash by.”
No one expects a gutter dweller like Mr. Rove to adhere to particularly high standards. Still, we wish he used Senator Warren’s full quote:
“Powerful interests have tried to capture Washington and rig the system in their favor. From tax policy to retirement security, the voices of hard-working people get drowned out by powerful industries and well-financed front groups. Those with power fight to make sure that every rule tilts in their favor. Everyone else just gets left behind.”
Warren concludes:
“Now we can whine about it. We can whimper. Or we can fight back. Me? I’m fighting back.”
We are fighting for a principle: That we are all in this together. That’s not about any single politician. It’s a demand for a fairer economic system. Karl Rove can’t divide us. If he’s going to use audio from our events, let’s make sure the whole story is told.
