Breaking: Donald Trump Officially Clinches Republican Presidential Nomination | 19 July 2016 | Donald Trump, the businessman whose outsider campaign has both galvanized millions of voters and divided the Republican Party, is the 2016 GOP presidential nominee. The New Yorker's embrace by the Republican National Convention marks a remarkable moment in U.S. political history and validates a campaign that shattered precedent, defied pundits and usurped the GOP establishment. His son Donald Trump, Jr., cast the votes for the New York delegation that put the candidate over the top of the 1,237 delegates he needed to clinch the nomination, as any talk of disruptive protest votes or walkouts dissipated. "It is my honor to be able to throw Donald Trump over the top in the delegate count tonight with 89 delegates," Donald Jr. said, surrounded by three of Trump's other children -- Ivanka, Eric and Tiffany.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan blames Gulen, a longtime bitter rival, for the attempted coup that began Friday night, leaving at least 232 people dead and leading to mass arrests and dismissals. Prime Minister Binali Yildirim announced the request Tuesday in Parliament and on Twitter referred to Gulen as a "terrorist leader."

#SpeechGate: Who Set Up Melania Trump? | 19 July 2016 | According to the operative - who ran a pro-Trump political organization prior to the "First in the South" presidential primary - many of the "new hands" ushered aboard the Trump Train in recent weeks are not loyal to their new employer. Their allegiances remain with U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas – the second-place GOP finisher who bitterly denounced Trump when he dropped out of the presidential race back in May. "I told you 'Never Trump' would infiltrate his campaign's most inner sanctum," the aide told us late Monday. "And they clearly succeeded. Knowingly plagiarizing Michelle Obama's speech? Wow." According to the aide, [Jason] Miller is one of several establishment "Republican" operatives loyal to Cruz who are working hard to sabotage Trump's campaign from within...In fact, the aide suggested the national humiliation of Melania Trump was payback for controversial comments Donald Trump made about Cruz's wife, Heidi Cruz.
Melania's Plagiarism Actually Just Shows How Vapid Political Speeches Are | 19 July 2016 | But what Melania Trump's plagiarism demonstrates more than anything else is that political speeches are largely vapid and interchangeable. They're so impersonal and without meaning that Melania could give Michelle's speeches, and Michelle could give Melania's, and hardly anyone would know the difference. The distance between the parties is not so great: they are united by their common clichés.

Convention drama: Trump campaign stops rules rebellion | 18 July 2016 | Open discord and revolt broke out on the floor of the Republican National Convention Monday as GOP officials crushed an attempt to embarrass presumptive nominee Donald Trump and GOP leaders that nevertheless underscored simmering divisions in the party. In a highly unusual show of disunity and anger on the floor of a modern party convention, a group of states tried to force a state-by-state roll call vote on the rules of the convention. The rebellion apparently caught Trump's campaign team by surprise, and his lieutenants were seen frantically whipping votes on the floor to squelch the effort amid scenes of deepening disarray.
Never-Trump delegates launch last-ditch bid to disrupt convention | 18 July 2016 | Anti-Trump Republicans launched a last-ditch bid on Monday to deny the New York businessman the party’s nomination by trying to force a state-by-state vote at the Cleveland convention on the rules that bind delegates to back Donald Trump. The effort stands little chance of succeeding, but could pose a major disruption to the proceedings just as party officials were trying to smooth over divisions. The Trump camp is said to be "livid" at the revived push. The group of Republicans has been working to upend convention proceedings by taking their objection of the presumptive GOP nominee to the convention floor.
Norovirus strikes the Republican National Convention | 19 July 2016 | The highly contagious norovirus appears to have hit the Republican National Convention. A dozen California Republican Party staff members, who arrived last week in Ohio ahead of the state's delegates, have fallen ill with the virus, said Jim Brulte, chairman of the state GOP. So far, none of the state's delegates appears to have caught the virus. The infected individuals first began showing symptoms on Thursday, and Erie County health officials have taken bodily samples for analysis, the Plain Dealer reported.

According to WNBC, citing an unnamed source, he is expected to plead guilty to a single count of conspiracy.

A website was registered earlier this year by someone using the name and home address of Gavin E Long of Kansas City, Missouri, and an email address that has also been used by "Cosmo Setepenra", purportedly a radio host and life coach based in Kansas City. No official public record of anyone named Cosmo Setepenra in the US could be found on Sunday. An author profile for Cosmo Setepenra described him as a US Marines veteran who reached the rank of sergeant (E-5).
