Car veers off Interstate 8, crashes into tree in El Cajon area

EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - Two people were rescued after a car crash off Interstate 8 in the El Cajon area Thursday.

The California Highway Patrol said at about 11:45 a.m. a gray Toyota Prius veered off westbound I-8 at Mollison Avenue for unknown reasons and crashed head-on into a tree.

Emergency crews responding to the crash worked to free the two occupants trapped in the vehicle. There is no immediate word on their condition.

The crash is under investigation.
