Verizon's egregious conduct when they were 'slamming' customers who had never ordered phone service ultimately led to those recordings in which you have to confirm your Verizon order.

So Verizon moves into Middleboro filled with grand promises, goes door to door soliciting customers, fills your mailbox with glossy brochures promoting their services, offers of new televisions.

And tells everyone Verizon offers local access programs -- Selectmen's Meeting, School Committee Meetings and so on.

Except THEY DON'T.

After Verizon indicated that local service would be available by the end of January 2008, a letter received by the Middleboro BOS indicates the service will be available by the end of February 2008 and the appropriate equipment has just been delivered to Comacast in Middleboro.

A Verizon Representative has indicated that attendance at the BOS Meeting of March 3, 2008 is possible.

At the BOS Meeting, residents' complaints will be addressed.

In addition to not providing local coverage as promised, Verizon is providing FIOS to subdivision, but informing customers they can't provide cable.

Submit written complaints to the Middleboro BOS to be addressed at that meeting.

As a footnote: If you call Verizon for installation, a representative will tell you that they provide local coverage. Verizon's printed material informs you that they provide local coverage.

It would seem that there are 2 choices for consumers: 1. Switch back to ComCast; 2. File complaints based on Verizon's deliberate deception which seem consistent with past history.

Not a chance.
If you want to get someone to meet your requirements, you need a contact that states your requirements.
Unfortunately we now find out that a contract with such requirements does not exist. We will be lucky to get local access channel by summer.
Has anyone ever heard of a breach of contract? If you have a verbal and or a written agreement, that is considered a CONTRACT in a court of law. CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT? or individual.

You're quite correct that one might make the argument that Verizon circulated brochures indicating they provided a service that they DO NOT, but not being an attorney, the simpler course for the consumer would seem to be to file complaints and let the Big Boys handle the resolution. And with Verizon's smarmy reputation based on past bad behavior, maybe a refund would be reasonable.
But this also appears to be a foretelling of future expectations.
Verizon's too big to be responsive.
A return to Comacast might be simpler.
We rcently switched from Comcast to Verison FIOS, what a disaster. After two missed appointements (no call) and ten days with no phone service (Comcast shut of phone on the 27th per Verison order but Verizon didn't install the new line untio the 7th.) We finally had to call ant threaten to cancel. They came out the same day (Saturday) an installed the whole thing. The problem? There is NO cooperation between Verizon and Comcast. They try to zing each other at every turn. The one who suffers is the customer. If Comcast has to install equipment to allow for verizon to do local access, it will happen when hell freezes over.
Thank you for sharing your Verizon horror story, but if you don't complain, how will anyone know?

For those so inclined, you can even forward a copy of your complaint to your state reps.
