About This Dog -
Owner surrender :( This handsome guy is going to need someone that understands the Rottweiler breed. A strong personality, but with a gentle hand. Rotties are big babies and will do anything for their pack leader. This is what the shelter writes about him:
"Oscar was surrendered by his owner. He is very friendly with familiy members, including kids. Not good with cats. Displays territorial aggression at home and is able to climb a 6 foot fence" Please guys, lets get a forever home for this beautiful baby, so he will never feel betrayed again!!!

***SCARED SENIOR GIRL BETRAYED & DUMPED WHEN HER OLD OWNER DIED!!! PLEASE SAVE CUPCAKE!!!*** Lovely black & white senior CUPCAKE is 15 years old, but was dumped at the high-kill ACC (along with her former housemate MUFFIN, who[s still available in the URGENT album) with the excuse "mom died". Cupcake seems a delightful older girl, according to her pet profile: she's a well-behaved lady who "always" uses her litter box & scratching post, played happily with the other cat MUFFIN, & she's also "friendly" with both strangers & children alike. But stuck in a small cage at the loud, scary ACC, poor Cupcake is TERRIFIED & is reacting by RETREATING. She's NOT hissing, swatting, growling or biting, she's just trying to escape. For THAT, this sweet kitty was misjudged as New Hope Only & quickly added to tomorrow's kill list for 6 a.m. Please don't let the ACC murder this dear senior! Cupcake will calm down in NO TIME once she's out of that hellhole! Please start RIGHT NOW to apply to foster or adopt misunderstood senior CUPCAKE from the approved New Hope rescue groups! If you can't save CUPCAKE yourself, please SHARE her sad story & PLEDGE for her rescue!

DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the cat. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the cats’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the cat. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how animals fall through the cracks and end up being killed.
For more information on a particular cat, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions.See More

DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.
For more information on a particular dog, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go unnoticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions.See More

Handsome is a young, sweet boy whose name is just perfect! This poor fella was so nervous when he came in that he vomited and defecated in the box he was in. I sure wish ACC had cleaned him up before taking his picture. Despite his initial nerves, Handsome rocked his behavior evaluation earning an awesome Average rating! But now this great guy has a cold and a spot on tomorrow's kill list. Please work to save this sweetheart tonight. Don't let him die for an easily treatable cold. Save Handsome now!

How it Works: Adopting a Cat From The “To Be Destroyed” Album If you decide to adopt a cat that is on the “To Be Destroyed” list, you must act fast. Any cat on the list, can be destroyed the following morning. We try to post the list every night at 6PM. You then have 2 hours to call the shelter and advise of your inten...tions. After 8, you must either have a rescue call, and place a hold, or YOU MUST CALL THE SHELTER THE NEXT MORNING BEFORE 8AM! Do not wait because I guarantee that the shelter will not wait either. Euth's begin at 6am. Call early! "HOW TO" INFO-CLICK on LINK: http://www.facebook.com/ PetsOnDeathRow?sk=infoSee More

Tigger is an adorable two year old boy who is not loving his stay at the shelter. Can we really blame him for being unhappy? I would be too if I was in a scary new environment, locked inside a cold metal cage. Tigger is probably just a cat who got lost from home or who was abandoned. Let's work to get him back in a home where he will feel safe and loved. Contact a rescue group right away if you can save darling Tigger!

Lassie is a lovely little ebony girl of enigmatic lineage. She is said by her owner to have a Labrador up her ancestry. I see a Terrier. There might be so much more... Lassie was surrendered into our care as her family was moving and could not afford a pet anymore. She has been well cared for, is quite well nourished and very well groomed. Lassie comes with quite good recommendations. She is definitely a friendly and sociable female who is good on the leash, eliminates as soon as we leave the care center and poses without objecting for the photos shooting session. She does not seem to mind other dogs met in the yard or in the street. She seems qute comfortable with me and others who come to say hello. Free in a large pen, Lassie jumps on the bench next to me, nuzzles my hands and gives little furtive kisses on my face. She is adorable and affectionate and will make such a wonderful forever friend given the chance to be a beloved pet one more time around. Lassie is at the Manhattan Center waiting to meet you and win your heart.

A volunteer writes: Lassie is a lovely little ebony girl of enigmatic lineage. Lassie is at the Manhattan Care Center waiting to meet you and win your heart..

*** NEUTERED 15-LB. "STRAY" IS A TALKATIVE SENIOR LOVEBUG!!! PLEASE SAVE DEVIN!!!*** Who's that handsome ebony-hued charmer? Why, it's 13-year-old DEVIN, who somehow found himself dumped at the kill-happy ACC as a "stray", despite weighing 15 lbs. & being neutered! This lovebug is NO stray, but simply a lost or abandoned kitty. Something doesn't add up...he also has NO behavior rating, despite what the ACC says about him: "Soliciting attention, at front of cage; Response When Cage Opened: Remains soft & relaxed; Extend Hand: Sniffs, rubs hand, & vocal; Stroke: Rubs hand. Score: 15." That should rate the very best BEGINNER rating, if you ask ME! (He WAS rated Beginner on 4/9, but his rating on 4/13 says NONE.) Again, something's not right here! But sadly, all of Devin's charms could NOT save him from the ever-present ACC kitty cold, which sweeps non-stop through the cat cages. The cruel ACC prefers to KILL, not CURE, even though cat colds are easily & inexpensively treated, so Devin "earned" a spot on tomorrow morning's kill list, sentence to be carried out at 6 a.m. Please start RIGHT NOW to apply to foster or adopt adorable senior DEVIN from the approved rescue groups! If you can't save sweet DEVIN yourself, please SHARE his sad story & PLEDGE for his rescue!

Rick went from a home to lost in the Bronx to a cage in the Brooklyn Center. Rick is wondering how his life has gone so
horribly wrong and he is terrified. This 2 year old was a bit nervous
during the medical exam—can we say Jack Russell? Things didn't get much better for Rick during his Safer—so scared, he wanted only to get away from everything & everyone. He wouldn't even eat! Clean, in good health, already neutered—we just don’t know why his family hasn't come for him. But here Rick sits waiting.
Tomorrow though, ACC has other plans for him and tomorrow he may be euthanized. Rick’s only chance now is if someone sees this young sweet guy and steps up to foster or adopt him. Surely there’s a family for Rick; surely he can live out the rest of his life in true Jack Russell comfort! Speak up now—tomorrow will be too late!

Put yourself in Jack’s place: you’re a two-year-old Beagle who’s lived with your family your whole life and suddenly they take you for a ride to an awful, noisy place called Brooklyn ACC where strangers poke and prod you, where other strange dogs keep barking at you - they even try to put a muzzle on you! So ACC gave Jack, the beagle, a New Hope rating cause he wouldn’t play, he wouldn’t eat, and just didn’t know what that other dog they brought in, wanted! But we know Jack is missing his human siblings, missing his toys, and missing the only home he’s known. Tomorrow, Jack will get really, really scared when they try to take him out his crate to that room - the room where they euthanize. He’s on tonight’s list and the only chance he’s got is for someone who understands what he’s been through to apply to a rescue to foster or adopt him. He’s a young Beagle, in good health; surely, there’s a beagle lover out there who looks at that cute, scared little Beagle face and will come to his rescue. Jack is waiting… he’s out of time!
