Can we UNITE and KILL TPP?

BREAKING NEWS: Just minutes ago, Democrats in the Senate dealt a stunning and unexpected blow to the prospects of the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Under intense pressure from progressives, the Senate voted 52 to 45 to block debate on Fast Track legislation that would have forbidden Congress from making amendments to the TPP. Nearly everyone expected the White House to win this cloture vote comfortably. Now, pro-corporate administration officials and Republicans are scrambling, trying to figure out what to do next.

Let me be clear: This vote is more than an amazing but isolated victory. It's irrefutable proof that the Warren wing of the Democratic party can defeat the TPP. Our activism is working. Democrats are waking up and realizing that votes to support a pro-corporate agenda over working families will have real, lasting consequences.

Now, we need to to build on this big win and turn up the pressure on Senate and House Democrats so we can kill this bad trade bill for good. Will you donate $3 now to help DFA supercharge our fight against the TPP?

While we celebrate today's failed Fast Track vote, DFA and others who have been fighting alongside Senators Warren, Brown and Sanders to defeat the TPP will not rest until it's dead, buried, and covered with six-inches of concrete.

The White House has already shown us that there is nothing they won't do to ram this job-killing deal through Congress -- and they plan to push for another Fast Track vote in the coming weeks. As we speak, administration officials and lobbyists are already furiously trying to find a way to pick off the votes of the "pro-trade" Democrats they need to get this deal done.

The White House may be determined. But so are we. The Warren wing of the Democratic Party isn't going anywhere -- and we're proving to pro-corporate Democrats and Republicans that the days of selling out Main Street to help out Wall Street without consequences are over.
