Breaking: Tsunami warning issued after massive 7.3-magnitude earthquake strikes off Fukushima in Japan | 21 Nov 2016 | An earthquake of magnitude 7.3 struck early on Tuesday, local time, off the Japanese coast, some 67 km northeast of Iwaki, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The USGS reported the depth of the quake at 10 km. The epicentre is near Fukushima, where an earthquake in 2011 caused a nuclear plant to have a meltdown[s].
 
Tsunami Warning Issued After Quake Off Fukushima in Japan | 21 Nov 2016 | An earthquake with preliminary magnitude of 7.3 has struck off the coast of Fukushima prefecture in Japan. A tsunami warning for waves of up to three meters (10 feet) has been issued. The Japan Meteorological Agency says the quake struck around 6 a.m. at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles). Fukushima prefecture is north of Tokyo and home to the nuclear power plant that was destroyed in 2011.
 
FEMA Holds Briefing on Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant Exercise | 19 Nov 2016 | (Plymouth, MA) The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region I held a public briefing on a full-scale exercise at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Plymouth. The briefing presented initial observa­tions of participant actions taken during the exercise at the Station. Representatives from FEMA and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) presented their observations of the full-scale exercise. The briefing took place at the conclusion of the one-day exercise.
 
ISIS Supporter Talked About Times Square, Feds Say | 21 Nov 2016 | A New York City man was charged Monday with trying to join ISIS and expressing support for a Nice-style attack in Times Square. The criminal complaint unsealed in federal court provides no indication that Mohamed Rafik Naji, a citizen of Yemen who lives in Brooklyn, was actually planning an assault. Naji, 37, allegedly tried to join the terrorist group abroad last year but eventually returned to the United States.
 
France officials say 'terrorist act' thwarted with arrest of 7 | 21 Nov 2016 | French anti-terrorism police have arrested seven people in Strasbourg and Marseille and thwarted what the interior minister called a new potential attack. Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, announcing the arrests Monday, said six of the suspects arrested hadn't been known to intelligence services. Cazeneuve said that Sunday's arrests prevented "a terrorist act that had been envisaged for a long time."
 
Hundreds of NHS staff and patients referred to controversial counter-terrorism programme | 20 Nov 2016 | The NHS has referred hundreds of its patients and staff to the police under a controversial anti-terrorism programme. Since July 2015, the Government's Prevent scheme has required all public bodies to report people they believe to be at risk of radicalisation. In the year since it was introduced, 420 people were referred to the scheme by the NHS over fears they could be vulnerable to extremism, reported BBC Radio 5 Live. The Government says Prevent aims to "reduce the threat to the UK from terrorism by stopping people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism".
 
4 cops shot in 24 hours in 4 cities, 2 shootings called targeted | 21 Nov 2016 | Two police officers have been shot in separate incidents in what authorities are calling targeted attacks. One died; the other was shot twice in the face but was expected to survive. They were two of four officers shot Sunday in four incidents. A San Antonio detective writing out a traffic ticket to a motorist was shot to death in his squad car late Sunday morning outside police headquarters by another driver who pulled up from behind, authorities said.
 
San Antonio police officer dies after being shot in head | 20 Nov 2016 | A San Antonio police officer was shot to death during a traffic stop Sunday in what the department’s chief described as a targeted killing similar to recent police shootings in Dallas, Texas, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Police are looking for the man who pulled up in a car behind the officer's patrol car while he was writing a ticket, Chief William McManus said Sunday in a news conference. The suspect walked up to the passenger window and fired a round that hit the officer in the head, McManus said. The suspect then reached into the vehicle and shot the officer a second time, McManus said.
 
Democratic Rep. Gabbard meets with Trump | 21 Nov 2016 | Hawaii Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard met with President-elect Donald Trump and his transition team Monday. Gabbard, who backed Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary, is being considered for jobs at the Defense Department, State Department and the United Nations, a source told CNN. Gabbard stepped down from her post as a vice chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee earlier in the year to support Sanders -- and fight Hillary Clinton -- in the primaries. She stood by Sanders through the Democratic convention, only announcing she would vote for Clinton days after the convention ended.
