***STUNNING 15-YEAR-OLD BOMBAY GIRL DUMPED DUE TO MOVE - PLEASE SAVE PEPI!!!*** Poor PEPI - 15 years old, betrayed & dumped at the kill-happy ACC when your old owners decided to move to a place that doesn't allow cats! I can only imagine how lost, forlorn & betrayed you must feel. Pepi is a large 19-pound girl who is well-behaved & "always" uses her litter box. She is already spayed & behaviorally will be fine once she gets to know you. (According to her former owners, she can be a bit "hissy" until she warms up to you.) Bombay cats crave human affection & can be very "talkative" kitties, expressing their love for their humans in no uncertain terms. Here at the ACC, poor Pepi is frightened out of her wits, so she's retreating & hissing when the scary fake hand is poked into her cage. Naturally that gave the ACC an excuse to add her to their kill list. Senior cats & black cats are all too often the last ones to be saved & the first ones to be killed. Pepi, being both a black Bombay & a senior, certainly has the odds stacked against her tonight, but let's work to give her a happy ending with a loving forever home. Please start RIGHT NOW to apply to foster or adopt senior Bombay girl PEPI from the approved rescue groups! If you can't save PEPI yourself, please SHARE her sad story & PLEDGE for her rescue!

DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the cat. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the cats’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the cat. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how animals fall through the cracks and end up being killed.
For more information on a particular cat, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed. Sara (a boy) and MORGAN - ID#A0966108 (still available) came into the shelter as strays, and they are very nervous. Of course they are though, wouldn’t you be if you were snatched up with your brother and forced into a scary cage? I know I would. If I were a cat brought into the shelter, they would slap a New Hope rating on me faster than I could imagine. Sara is going to need a family that will understand that he is still young, at just a year and a half old, and that he is scared. This boy may have never had a home before, so why don’t YOU be the one to step up and show him the LOVE and care he has never known before? Give this young boy a second chance at life, he deserves it oh so much. Please contact rescue groups immediately if you would like to foster or adopt cute little Sara tonight!

DELTA is only about 6 months old, but too many of those months have been hard ones for her. She may not carry physical injuries like many of our other babies do, but she has been quietly injured all the same. Every meal she didn't receive; every hug she never got; every back that was turned on her. An injury. Despite all of that, DELTA remains a beautiful, kind, loving soul who needs only a caring person at her side. Don't you think this cat has suffered enough? Turn things around for DELTA right now ♥

***TERRIFIED BLACK 18-MONTH-OLD BOY WILL DIE DUE TO FEAR!!! PLEASE SAVE AGNETA!!!*** Stunning black mini-panther boy AGNETA, just 18 months old, was dumped at the kill-happy ACC as a stray, together with 6-week-old kitten AWAN (still available in Urgent Album). Agneta is terrified at the scary, hostile ACC, so he's responding by trying to flee when the scary fake hand is poked into his cage. You'd do EXACTLY the same thing if you were in HIS paws! But the heartless ACC slapped him with New Hope Only, then added him to the kill list for tomorrow morning at 6 a.m., simply for being scared & having diarrhea - both conditions that are so easily remedied! Please have compassion for this scared young black boy; look past his fear into his heart to see the sweet fur baby hiding inside. Agneta will gentle down in no time, once he's out of this hellhole! Black cats are always the last ones adopted & the first ones killed, despite the fact that black kitties are extremely loving, loyal & mellow companions. Let's give Agneta a happy ending rather than the needle of death which waits for him. Please start RIGHT NOW to apply to foster or adopt poor misjudged AGNETA from the approved New Hope rescue groups! "Owner got this cat as a gift she said she doesn't want this cat she never wanted a cat." Oh how my heart breaks for Troy. He was never even wanted by his owner and was dumped like trash at the shelter. His photo is just heartbreaking and shows his sadness and fear. Troy is described as a playful cat who likes toys, is friendly around children and not necessarily a lap cat. But now Troy is scared and carries a New Hope only rating. Troy needs to feel wanted, loved, and appreciated. Don't let him die without ever experiencing those things. Please advocate for Troy tonight.

**SUPER SENIOR ROCKY WOULD LOVE TO GO HOME WITH YOU**
Rocky is a gorgeous neutered boy that had a home for 16 YEARS! After 16 years Rocky’s family decided it was time to move and that he and his friend MOUSEY - ID#A0966317 (still available for adoption) could not come along. As you can imagine, Rocky is devastated. He is so confused, why is he here? What happened to his family? This poor senior just wants a calm, loving home to relax in for the rest of his golden years. Could you possibly be the one to give him that loving home? He won’t need much, just a comfy bed and some rubs and pats every once in a while. Rocky is a good boy that deserves the best of the best for his final years, please be the one to step up for sweet Rocky tonight.

Wow! Quest you are simply stunning! Quest is a neutered, five year old orange boy that weighs a hearty 17.9 lbs. He has a gorgeous marbled coat and a darling little face. Quest was brought the shelter when his owners were moving and couldn't take him along. They describe Quest as an easy going guy who likes to lounge around, play when he wants to, and is not picky with his food. It's a shame they gave up such a great cat and even more of a shame that Quest caught a cold from the shelter and is scheduled to die tomorrow. That is unless someone steps up for him tonight. Quest is hoping with all his heart that person will be YOU!

Here's the deal: a 17-year-old cat absolutely deserves to live out the rest of their life in comfort and dignity, but that is not what's in the cards for Simba. This great guy has been at the ACC since 5/18 and he could use a veterinary checkup, but you know what? This senior sweetheart has a lot of life experience and a lot of love yet to give. Some people might think that his age makes Simba expendable, as if it's somehow okay that he dies at the ACC tomorrow because he has already had 17 years. That's one way to look at it, but let's all take another view. A better view. An older cat might not be a medically complicated cat, just as a younger one might not be a healthy one. Simba is an old soul who will brighten anyone's day, no matter how old he is, and it's up to us to make sure he starts brightening someone's day tomorrow. By saving his life, tonight.

A volunteer writes: There's something very soft and tender about Macchino that makes me want to pick him up and hold him in my arms forever. It could how velvety his gray and white fur feels when I pet him, or the kitten-like way he rubs his head into my palm to score affection. Or perhaps it's how he sleeps in the back of his kennel, curled up in a fuzzy ball with his paws tucked into his body. Whatever it is, this former house cat really tugs at my heartstrings. Come up to 110th Street to meet him today, and I bet you'll fall in love with him too.

Some people just don’t understand that household pets depend on their owners for proper care, love and affection just as a child does. It’s a commitment and not one to be taken lightly. That must have been the case with Midnight’s former owners because it seems as soon as they started their family with a new baby, poor Midnight was persona non grata and off he went – surrendered to the ACC. With his stunning good looks, healthy weight and lovely coat of gray and white, Midnight is quite a package AND he’s already neutered so he can leave the ACC behind without further delay for his forever home. First things first though – Midnight needs a new home and he needs it tonight. He is house trained, friendly, and ignores other dogs, but was given a New Hope rating for his fearful reactions to the assessor. Please share him now and if you are able to foster or adopt Midnight, don’t delay; he only has hours left to find a home and every second is precious. Click on the photo right now to go directly to his thread and ask for help. Hurry – the clock is ticking for Midnight. Time grows desperately short and without a foster or adopter stepping up tonight, it will run out forever tomorrow. Contact a New Hope approved rescue if you can help Midnight tonight.

Little Baxter has non-contagious mange - and his whole life ahead of him. Volunteers believe he's SO worth saving: "Baxter is a little boy. Like any youngster, he should be carefree and happy to be... Baxter, unfortunately was found as a stray, his skin ridden with non contagious mange, maybe the result of poor nutrition or allergies and most likely the reason for his abandonment. His coat itches and his swollen paws hurt. Still, because he is so young and innocent, Baxter wants to play with the ball I throw to him. He even runs for it, catches it and keeps it in his mouth for a while or juggles it between his paws. It appears as though Baxter would love to play with other dogs that enter the yard and gallops toward them as they near our pen, sometimes barking in excitement. Baxter is a needy puppy who comes right away when I call him and settles with his two forelegs on my lap for hugs, caresses and kisses. I know he would not mind a little scratch...Baxter seems to have had some training. He can sit on command, give a paw and does eliminate as we leave the building. I guess his skin condition was an issue for his former master but it will not be for the caring person who will want to make it right for Baxter. Baxter is at the Manhattan Care Center, hoping to be soon the loving and beloved little boy he was always meant to be."

For more information on adopting please read the following: http:// urgentpetsondeathrow.org/ must-read/
DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.
For more information on a particular dog, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go unnoticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions.

Pets on Death Row - Urgent Death Row Cats added 3 new photos to the album TO BE DESTROYED TUESDAY 5/28/13.
Poor little Bronx is back on the list tonight... :(
Bronx is an itty-bitty smidgen of a dog, only 31 pounds at two years of age. And she is just as feisty as she is tiny. We don't know anything about how Bronx had spent the first two years of her life and why she'd ended up on the mean streets of New York. All we know is that the longer she's been at ACC, the more freaked out she's become. Some dogs are happy as a clam, even in the filthy, chaotic shelter environment. Others, like Bronx, take it very hard. Bronx was never properly evaluated, and once she started having diarrhea, she was slapped on the euth list. There's very little known about Bronx, and practically nothing about how she will be once she's out of the shelter. What we do know, is that this isn't little Bronx's fault and she deserves a chance; a chance that neither her former owners, nor the ACC seem to have been willing to give her. We have 12 hours to find the person that won't turn their back on her. The clock is ticking...
