Yay, three day weekend! Unfortunately, the weather may not be prime for an outdoor barbecue, but don't fear-- here are other events happening around Boston this Memorial Day weekend.
FREE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND AT THE MFA
The Museum of Fine Arts will display love for Boston during three free days in late May. The Memorial Day weekend events are being held in support for the city after the bombings at the Boston Marathon. May 25-27, 10 a.m.-4:45 p.m., www.mfa.org
MEMORIAL DAY BIRD WALKFor those hours with (hopefully) minimal rain, take a walk around the Fresh Pond reservation in Cambridge and take in the nature as the spring season blossoms. May 27, 8-10 a.m., Fresh Pond Reservation
MEMORIAL DAY FAMILY WEEKENDTake the whole family to learn about the life of a Marine on board the USS Constitution. Then, tour the museum exhibhits and get some education in along with a family outing. May 25-May 27, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., USS Constitution Museum, Charlestown Navy Yard, Boston.

Memorial Day weekend events across Cape
- Operation Flags for Vets, placing of flags on 56,000 grave markers, 10 a.m. Saturday at Massachusetts National Cemetery, off Route 28, Bourne. Volunteers are asked to bring a long-shanked screwdriver to aid in making starter holes for the flags.
- Annual Memorial Day Ceremony, 1 p.m. Sunday, Massachusetts National Cemetery, off Route 28, adjacent to Massachusetts Military Reservation, Bourne. Master of ceremonies: Francis McDonald, chairman of Joint Veterans Committee. Welcoming remarks by cemetery foreman Tony Franza. Guest speaker: Deputy Chief Steven Xiarhos, Yarmouth Police Department. Music by Dedham American Legion Band. Taps by Robbi Laak, American Legion Post 188. Veterans organizations to participate in presentation of wreaths in honor of their comrades. Held rain or shine so as not to conflict with town ceremonies Monday.
- Wellfleet Memorial Day ceremony, 8:30 a.m. Monday in front of town hall, 300 Main St., sponsored by American Legion.
- Mashpee Memorial Day ceremony, 9 a.m. Monday, Mashpee Community Park and Veterans Garden. Guest speaker and participation by local Scout troops. Sponsored by Mashpee Memorial VFW Post 5489 and Mashpee Special Events Committee.
- Town of Dennis Memorial Day Observance and Parade, 9:30 a.m. Monday, steps off from West Dennis Graded School, 67 School St., and proceeds to Merrill Park, Route 28. Speaking program and musical selections by Wixon Middle School band and wreath placement, 10 a.m. Parade marshal: World War II veteran Harry Watling. Guest speaker: World War II veteran Ralph Cox. If inclement weather, speaking program will take place at 10 a.m. at West Dennis Graded School. 508-385-6000.
- Barnstable Memorial Day parade, forms at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Centerville Library and begins at 10 a.m. Proceeds down Main Street to Monument Square for brief program, then up Old Stage Road to Beechwood Cemetery for main program. Guest speaker: retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Jimmy G. Dishner.
- Falmouth Memorial Day ceremony, 9:45 a.m. Monday. Parade will leave Village Green and proceed to Memorial Lane, where ceremony will be held on lawn of Falmouth Public Library, 300 Main St. A light lunch will be served afterward at Falmouth Elks Lodge, 140 Palmer Ave.
- Harwich Memorial Day ceremony, 9:45 a.m. Monday, Brooks Park, Harwich. Music by Harwich Town Band. Soloist Amy Camenga. Pledge of Allegiance/national anthem by Harwich Scout troops. Invocation and benediction by the Rev. Jim David. Greetings by Selectman Linda Cebula. Guest speaker: retired Coast Guard Cmdr. John C. Rendon. "Amazing Grace" tuba solo by Michael Rodericks. In memory of Robert A. Domos. Taps by Annie Harris.
- Chatham Memorial Day ceremony, 10 a.m. Monday. Begins at World War I Memorial at left of community center on Main Street; proceeds to Oyster Pond to lay wreath on water; then to adjacent Korean and Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Ceremony then proceeds to Civil War Memorial at Seaview and Main streets for reading of Gettysburg Address by Scott Hamilton. Participants will be led back to rotary by bagpiper Sarah Marchio for further music, speeches and conclusion. Master of ceremonies: Mark Butler, commander of Chatham VFW. Guest speaker: Senior Chief Robert Goley, officer in charge of Coast Guard Station Chatham. If inclement weather, ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. at community center.
- Sandwich Memorial Day parade, 10 a.m. Monday, steps off from Beale Avenue, next to Henry T. Wing School, and ends at Tupper Road near Sandwich Town Hall. Parade will feature an antique bus, bands, a choral group, and an equestrian demonstration. Keynote address by state Rep. Randy Hunt, R-Sandwich, and laying of wreaths on military monuments.
- Provincetown Memorial Day observance, 10 a.m. Monday at town cemetery, off Cemetery Road, for laying of wreath at grave of Civil War veterans. Ceremony at 11 a.m. at town hall, Commercial and Ryder streets, featuring town officials, guest speakers and members of military with patriotic music.
- Yarmouth Memorial Day ceremony, 11 a.m. Monday, front lawn of town hall, 1146 Route 28, South Yarmouth.
- John F. Kennedy Memorial Trust Fund Committee annual Memorial Day ceremony, 12:15 p.m. Monday at John F. Kennedy Memorial on Ocean Street, next to Veterans Park Beach. Ceremony will feature local Scouts, Barnstable Police Department Honor Guard and special guests.

Admission: Exhibit entrance is by timed ticket and will come with a ticket for Exhibit Halls admission, which can be used on the same day or during the next six months. Tickets are $32 for adults, $29 for seniors, and $27 for children ages 3 to 11.
