Adopting a Dog From The “To Be Destroyed” Album: If you decide to adopt a dog that is on the “To Be Destroyed” list, you must act fast. Any dog on the list, can be destroyed the following morning. We try to post the list every night by 6PM. You then have 2 hours to call the shelter and advise of your intentions. After... 8, you must either have a rescue call, and place a hold, or YOU MUST CALL THE SHELTER THE NEXT MORNING BEFORE 8AM! Do not wait because I guarantee that the shelter will not wait either. Euth's begin at 6am. Call early! When calling the shelters, you will get a recording. Do not leave a message! They do not check those machines!! Hit 0 at the end of each message cycle and, eventually, someone will pick up. It may take 30 minutes, but they will answer. Do not give up, a life is depending on you!For more information on HOW TO ADOPT, please go to: https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=405703306122877 For more information on fostering a dog, please contact your local rescue.LIST OF RESCUE WHO CAN PULL FROM NYCACC: http://www.urgentdeathrowdogs.org/how-you-can-help/how-togroup1/adopt.html ***RATINGS***GREEN animals are those animals who were relaxed, easy to handle, and who showed no concerning behavior during the exam.BLUE animals are those animals who were tense and nervous but mostly still and relatively easy to handle during the exam.YELLOW animals are those animals who were nervous, actively resisted examination, and required the use of restraint equipment or techniques, but did not exhibit aggressive behaviors during the exam.ORANGE animals are those who required the use of restraint techniques and/or equipment and did exhibited some "aggressive" behaviors during the exam. Thanks, Hound Haven for Rescuing Irving's WATSON!

SUPER URGENT 2/21/13
Brooklyn Center

PACO - ID#A0957875

... I am a neutered male, black and brown Chihuahua - Smooth Coated mix.

The shelter staff think I am about 8 years old.

I weigh 9 pounds.

I was found in NY 11207.

I have been at the shelter since Feb 21, 2013

For more information on adopting please read the following:
https://www.facebook.com/Urgentdeathrowdogs/app_137541772984354

DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

For more information on a particular dog, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go unnoticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions.
