US denies MH370 'cover-up,' denounces Diego Garcia link as 'baseless conspiracy theory' --'This is a baseless conspiracy theory that has already been debunked around the world.' - Embassy press attaché Harvey Sernovitz 15 Apr 2014 Washington has strongly refuted all allegations of a cover-up in the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. As discussions, including on social media, on the purported role of the United States behind the Boeing jetliner going missing continue to swirl, Washington, through its embassy here, said that they were all "baseless conspiracy theories". The US Embassy here, in an email to the New Straits Times, said claims that MH370 was hidden somewhere in its island military base, Diego Garcia, were also wild allegations... Washington also addressed allegations that logs at Diego Garcia from March 8 to 10, had been wiped clean. "These reports are completely false. MH370 did not land in Diego Garcia. This is a baseless conspiracy theory."

Missing flight MH370 was 'thrown around like a fighter jet' in deliberate bid to avoid radar detection 13 Apr 2014 The missing flight MH370 carried out drastic manoeuvres just after it disappeared from radar to avoid detection - a new theory suggests. Malaysian military investigators believe the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 jet was "thrown around like a fighter jet" to dodge radar signals and disappear. Flight MH370, which disappeared more than five weeks ago en route to Beijing, is thought to have climbed to heights of 45,000ft - 10,000ft above its normal altitude - before plummeting to just below 5,000ft. Speaking to the Sunday Times, a source claimed: "It was being flown very low at very high speed. And it was being flown to avoid radar."

Malaysia plane MH370: Robotic sub mission aborted --Bluefin-21 exceeded its depth safety limit 14 Apr 2014 The robot submarine sent to search for wreckage from the missing Malaysia Airlines plane has had its first mission cut short. It began scouring the bed of the southern Indian Ocean to try to determine whether signals detected last week by sound-locating equipment were from the plane's flight recorders.

Fukushima basements mistakenly flooded with 200 tons of radioactive water 14 Apr 2014 A pump at Japan's battered Fukushima power plant has mistakenly flooded its basements with highly contaminated cooling-tank water. But the latest mishap follows a far more worrying discovery about one last year's leak. About 200 tons of water ended up flooding the basements beneath the complex, although the water didn't have a pathway to reach the ocean or leak out to any other areas, fortunately. The plant's operator, Tokyo Electric Power Co., ordered the leakage to be removed as soon as possible, The Asahi Shimbun reports.

Russian Aircraft Flies Near U.S. Navy Ship in Black Sea [Gee, that wouldn't happen if USociopaths weren't in the Black Sea.] 14 Apr 2014 A Russian attack aircraft repeatedly flew near the USS Donald Cook in international waters in the Black Sea on April 12, a Pentagon spokesman said today. The USS Cook was patrolling in the western Black Sea when an unarmed Russian Su-24 Fencer attack aircraft repeatedly flew near the Navy ship, Army Col. Steve Warren told reporters. "The aircraft did not respond to multiple queries and warnings from Donald Cook, and the event ended without incident after approximately 90 minutes," Warren said. [USS Cook should be renamed USS Nosey Parker.]

CIA Boss John Brennan Meets With Ukraine Officials in Kiev 14 Apr 2014 CIA Director John Brennan has met face-to-face with officials in Kiev amid rising tensions between pro-Russian militants and Ukrainian forces in the eastern part of the country. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney confirmed Mr Brennan's weekend visit to the Ukrainian capital as part of his trip to Europe. Ousted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has accused the CIA of encouraging Ukrainian authorities to conduct tactical operations - a claim the US agency denies.

US must explain CIA chief's Kiev visit: Lavrov 14 Apr 2014 Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called for explanation from Washington over reports of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director's recent visit to Ukraine's capital city of Kiev. "We would like, in particular, to understand the meaning of these reports about CIA Director [John] Brennan's recent visit to Kiev," Lavrov said during a press conference in Moscow on Monday. He noted that the US government has so far failed to come up with "reasonable explanations" about the controversial visit during the weekend.

Kiev Proposes Joint Operation With UN Troops in Eastern Ukraine 14 Apr 2014 13:01 GMT: Ukraine's coup-empowered president, Aleksandr Turchinov, has proposed conducting a joint operation with UN peacekeeping forces in the east of the country, in a phone call with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Turchinov told Ban Ki-moon that Kiev's new authorities would welcome "if, with your help, there will be conducted a joint anti-terrorist operation in the east of the country. Then, specialists and observers will be able to confirm the legitimacy and legality of our actions," the press office of the Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) party quoted Turchinov as saying. Ban Ki-moon said that Kiev could rely fully on help from the UN as its partner.

Four new cases of infection were registered, bringing the kingdom's total to 194, the ministry said. It did not disclose the man's nationality.

Militias claim victory in Nev. cattle dispute 14 Apr 2014 Militia members and states' rights activists rallied Monday to declare victory after a weekend standoff with federal agents who had sought to seize a rancher's cattle. But along a short stretch of desert two-lane highway where hundreds of protesters and openly armed challengers caused the U.S. Bureau of Land Management to leave without the cattle they sought, no one thinks the battle is over. The agency had come to remove several hundred head of cattle that rancher Cliven Bundy and his family had put on federal land after refusing to pay grazing fees and ignoring court orders for 20 years.

Bundy ranch conflict pits tradition against federal regulations 14 Apr 2014 Cliven Bundy's standoff with the Bureau of Land Management over the agency's roundup of his cattle will go down in history as a high-profile clash of Old West values with today's federal regulations on the use of public lands and natural resources. The Bundy saga, rooted in the rancher's refusal to pay grazing fees for more than two decades, has not yet ended. After the BLM abruptly ended the weeklong roundup near the ranch 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas on Saturday, land agency officials said other unspecified administrative remedies would be pursued.

Judge considers staying Ohio gay marriage ruling 14 Apr 2014 A federal judge who ordered Ohio to recognize the marriages of same-sex couples performed in other states says he's inclined to issue a stay of his decision pending appeal, meaning most gay couples living in the state would see no immediate tangible expansion of their rights. Cincinnati-based Judge Timothy Black ordered attorneys on both sides of the case to file their arguments over whether he should issue a stay no later than Tuesday afternoon.
