Operation Temperer will see military personnel replacing police at key sites such as nuclear power plants to free up extra armed police for regular patrols. Scotland Yard said it is making 'excellent' progress in hunting the suspected terrorist who set off an improvised bucket bomb on a packed commuter train by Parsons Green tube station in west London at 8.20am. Mrs May said in a statement from Number 10: 'The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre has now decided to raise the national threat level from severe to critical - this means their assessment is that a further attack may be imminent.' Minutes later Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley suggested there may have been more than one person involved stating that police were 'chasing down suspects'.

A statement issued through the terror group's Amaq news agency claimed that a unit affiliated to ISIS had carried out the bombing. The announcement came shortly before Britain raised its terror threat level to critical, its highest level.

 

Parsons Green terror attack: London tube station IED bomb blast leaves 22 people injured --'Quite a few people injured' at west London station, say witnesses | 15 Sept 2017 | A manhunt is underway after nearly two dozen commuters were injured following an explosion at Parsons Green underground station in west London, which police are treating as terrorism. Witnesses described seeing people with burns from the blast and other wounds caused when passengers rushed to escape the station. NHS England said 22 people were being treated in hospital. Three self-referred and 19 others, taken by London Ambulance Service, were not in a serious or life-threatening condition. The incident is being treated as terrorism-related, the Metropolitan Police said.

 

Man shouting 'Allahu Akbar' arrested for attack in France | 13 Sept 2017 | A man who apparently shouted "Allahu Akbar" attacked seven people in the French city of Toulouse on Wednesday before he was captured, according to reports. Police quickly responded to the attack on Avenue Frederic-Estebe, where they overpowered the man, who is well known to authorities, the Express of the UK reported. Two of the victims were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

 

Over 11,000 blank Syrian passports in the hands of ISIS - media citing secret docs | 10 Sept 2017 | German authorities believe that Islamic State terrorists have stolen over 11,000 blank Syrian passports, confidential documents seen by the Bild am Sonntag newspaper reportedly reveal. German Investigators have made a list of the serial numbers of the blank passports, the newspaper reported, citing confidential documents of the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), the interior ministry and the country's federal police (BPOL). "According to BKA information, there are 11,100 Syrian blank passports...in the hands of the IS (Islamic State, also known as ISIS/ISIL [but still I-CIA-SIS])," the documents from the interior ministry reportedly state.

 

Thousands evacuated from Moscow buildings as Russian cities inundated with bomb threats | 13 Sept 2017 | Over 20 shopping centers, railway stations and universities had to be evacuated in Moscow, following warnings that they had been rigged with explosives. In total, 190 sites have been evacuated across 17 Russian cities after bomb threats, a security source told RIA news agency. "This appears to be a case of telephone terrorism, but we have to check the credibility of these messages," an emergency service source told Tass news agency, noting that the calls began at the same time, and continued after the evacuations had begun. Tass reported that over 20,000 people had been affected by the evacuation in Moscow alone.

Two years before the airliner attacks, the Saudi Embassy paid for two Saudi nationals, living undercover in the US as students, to fly from Phoenix to Washington "in a dry run for the 9/11 attacks," alleges the amended complaint filed on behalf of the families of some 1,400 victims who died in the terrorist attacks 16 years ago. The court filing provides new details that paint "a pattern of both financial and operational support" for the 9/11 conspiracy from official Saudi sources, lawyers for the plaintiffs say. In fact, the Saudi government may have been involved in underwriting the attacks from the earliest stages -- including testing cockpit security.

 

National Guardsman is arrested for threatening to kill Vice President Mike Pence at the 9/11 memorial in Pennsylvania | 11 Sept 2017 | A National Guardsman was charged with disorderly conducts and making terroristic threats towards Vice President Mike Pence before his visit to Pennsylvania on 9/11. Twenty-two-year-old William Robert Dunbar of Berlin, New Jersey was charged Saturday after his comments before Pence's trip for the annual observance of the Flight 93 crash. Richland Township police claim that Dunbar was on duty at the Army National Guard Training Center when he said, 'If someone pays me enough mon-y, I will kill the vice president.' Witnesses said they contacted commanding officers after they heard Dunbar make the threat twice.

 

Japan warns citizens to take shelter as North Korea fires missile from capital Pyongyang | 14 Sept 2017 | The Japanese government has issued a warning to its citizens after North Korea fired a missile over the country. It was launched from the Sunan district of Pyongyang, South Korea's military said. The missile has flown over Japan, Japan's NHK television said, but the government is warning citizens to avoid touching anything that looks like debris. Japanese chief cabinet secretary Yoshihide Suga said there is no evidence yet of any missile fragments landed on Japanese territory. The UN Security Council imposed its eighth round of sanctions on the country over its banned missile and nuclear programmes.

Ten sailors were killed after the warship John S. McCain collided with a merchant vessel last month...Vice Admiral Jan Tighe, the deputy chief of naval operations for information warfare, said the military is looking into whether the McCain’s computer systems were compromised, Foreign Policy reported.

 

Soldier Killed, 14 Others Hurt in Fort Bragg Training Exercise --An explosion during a training exercise at Fort Bragg has claimed the life of one soldier and left 14 others wounded, according to reports. | 15 Sept 2017 | A special forces soldier was killed and 14 soldiers wounded during an accidental explosion during a training exercise at Fort Bragg Thursday. The accident is under investigation by the USASOC, The Fayetteville Observer reported.

 

At least 15 soldiers injured in explosion at Fort Bragg, officials say | 14 Sept 2017 | At least 15 soldiers were injured in an explosion at a training field on Fort Bragg on Thursday, WRAL reported. The soldiers were all members of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, according to WRAL. The conditions of the soldiers were not immediately known, but several were transported by medical helicopter to Womack Army Medical Center. The incident at Fort Bragg comes just a day after a vehicle fire at Camp Pendleton in California left 15 Marines injured -- eight of them in the burn unit -- following a training exercise accident.

 

Camp Pendleton accident injures 15 Marines, five critically | 14 Sept 2017 | Fifteen Marines were injured and five were in critical condition at hospitals in Orange and San Diego counties, after an assault amphibious vehicle burst into flames during a training accident Wednesday morning, Sept. 13, at this seaside military base, officials said. Marine Corps officials are investigating the cause of the accident that injured members of the 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion. The accident is the second-largest multiple-injury incident in the last two years at the Marine Corps base. Five other Marines are listed in serious condition, one in stable condition, and two have minor injuries, said 1st Lt. Paul Gainey.

 

Bomb threat prompts closure of Santa Monica Pier | 11 Sept 2017 | The Santa Monica Pier was evacuated and temporarily closed down because of a bomb threat Monday. Authorities urged people to avoid the area as a bomb robot searched the parking lot. Santa Monica police said two calls came in, one from Hawthorne around 12:30 p.m. and then one from Culver City, regarding bomb threats.

 

Hurricane Jose's path threatens East Coast; two other storms likely in Atlantic | 15 Sept 2017 | Hurricane Jose, now spinning about 600 miles east of Miami, remains a threat to the East Coast next week. Jose could hit or graze the Mid-Atlantic, New England or Atlantic Canada coasts early next week, AccuWeather said, or potentially spin completely out to sea. Meanwhile, forecasters are keeping close tabs on two other weather systems, one of which is now Tropical Depression Fourteen and should become Tropical Storm Lee over the weekend.

 

Storm Jose 'to regain Hurricane status' bound for USA east coast and Washington DC --Jose is the hurricane season's 14th depression - NHC. | 15 Sept 2017 | Tropical Storm Jose could become a hurricane again on Friday, potentially causing life-threatening rip currents along the US coast and reaching Washington DC, according to the US National Hurricane Center (NHC). The NHC said the storm is about 510 miles south-southwest of Bermuda with maximum sustained winds of 70 miles per hour and could gradually turn toward the north in the next two days. The NHC said: "Some restrengthening is forecast to begin on Friday, and Jose will likely become a hurricane again by the weekend." Jose is projected to finish a clockwise loop in the Atlantic Ocean before heading north towards the US coast, potentially grazing Washington DC on Monday at 8.00pm EDT.

 

Criminal probe opened into 8 heat-related deaths at Florida nursing home | 13 Sept 2017 | Federal, state and local authorities have opened a criminal investigation into the deaths of eight nursing home residents who died of apparent heat-related causes after their facility lost air conditioning during the power outage triggered by Hurricane Irma. The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration on Wednesday ordered the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills temporarily closed, CBS12 and Fox reported. The development came less than a day after emergency teams descended on the nursing home early Wednesday when police got a 911 call about a heart attack...In recent years, the facility had been cited by Florida Agency for Health Care Administration for problems with temporary generators.

 

Eight Dead After Florida Nursing Home Goes Without Air Conditioning After Irma | 13 Sept 2017 | (Hollywood, FL) Eight people are dead and more than 100 have been evacuated to hospitals from a nursing home that had no air conditioning after Hurricane Irma, officials said Wednesday. The nursing home, the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills, had electricity but the transformer that powered the air conditioning had sustained a "prolonged power failure," the administrator said in a statement provided to NBC 6, a local television station. Initially, three people were discovered dead inside the nursing home, according to Craig T. Mallak, chief of the Broward County Medical Examiner and Trauma Services office, and another died en route to Memorial Regional Hospital.

 

Nearly 1 Million Pounds of Seven Deadly Air Pollutants Released by Texas Refineries During Harvey Floods | 01 Sept 2017 | Refineries and petrochemical plants in south Texas released nearly 1 million pounds of seven especially dangerous air pollutants during flaring and chemical spills triggered by Hurricane Harvey, according to a new Center for Biological Diversity analysis of industry data. Staggering amounts of benzene, 1,3-butadiene, hexane, hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, toluene and xylene -- estimated at 951,000 pounds so far -- were emitted during Harvey-related flooding by several dozen petroleum industry facilities operated by Chevron Phillips, Exxon Mobil, Shell and other companies. These seven chemicals are all toxic air pollutants documented to cause serious harms to human health, and several cause cancer. Total air pollutants from all oil and gas facilities added up to 5.46 million pounds, which is equal to 2,729 tons.

The extent of the damage after a day of triple-digit winds and raging waters was slow to emerge as morning broke and officials began assessing the damage while first responders began searching for casualties. Florida's largest utility reported that the storm had knocked out power to nearly three-quarters of its customers. More than 6.5 million residents across the state woke up Monday to no electricity.

 

Shorelines drained in eerie effect of Hurricane Irma | 10 Sept 2017 | Hurricane Irma's extraordinary strength has caused a seemingly unusual meteorological phenomena: the eerie pushing of water away from shorelines in the Bahamas and the Gulf Coast of Florida. Jason Beisel, a spokesman for the Florida city of Clearwater, described the scene in a tweet on Sunday: "Creepy site - water in Tampa Bay is already being sucked out. This is view from downtown St. Pete waterfront." In Charlotte Harbor, the second largest bay in Florida, Dylan Branscome posted a video on Facebook showing dry, sandy landscape as if the bay had evaporated.

NBC's Kerry Sanders helps rescue two dolphins who were stranded on Marco Island after a massive storm surge caused by Hurricane Irma | 11 Sept 2017 | NBC's Kerry Sanders was one of many reporters who spent days in Florida warning the public to get out of harm's way as Hurricane Irma barrelled into the Sunshine State. However, he's the only correspondent who, while reporting live, helped rescue two dolphins that became stranded on Marco Island. Sanders was in the middle of reporting on a storm surge that came in on the south side of the island after Irma touched down in the area just before he helped rescue a baby dolphin. A passerby who spotted the baby dolphin walked up to Sanders and asked for his help.

 

In all-caps tweet, National Weather Service urgently warns Florida Keys to evacuate | 08 Sept 2017 | The National Weather Service is not mincing words when it comes to the threat posed by Hurricane Irma. On Friday evening, the service’s Key West account posted the following all-caps warning to residents of the Florida Keys: "This is as real as it gets. Nowhere in the Florida Keys will be safe. You still have time to evacuate."

 

Shooting at Spokane-area high school leaves 1 dead, three wounded | 13 Aug 2017 | One person is dead and three others have been wounded in a shooting at a high school south of Spokane. The Spokesman-Review reports at least four people have been shot, including the victim who died. A suspect, identified as a student at the school, has been taken into custody, according to the newspaper. Dr. Jeff Collins, the chief physician at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children's Hospital in Spokane, told the newspaper three victims were admitted to the hospital. "We’re all hands on deck," Collins told The Spokesman-Review. "We train for this regularly." 

 

Sanders introduces universal health care, backed by 15 Democrats | 13 Aug 2017 | Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) introduced legislation Wednesday that would expand Medicare into a universal health insurance program with the backing of at least 15 Democratic senators -- a record level of support for an idea that had been relegated to the fringes during the last Democratic Deep State-owned presidency. In a one-page decision signed by Justice Anthony Kennedy, the high court halted a ruling by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals last week that prohibited the government from barring entrance to refugees who had been offered help by a US-based resettlement agency. Kennedy's order puts the San Francisco-based appeals court's ruling on hold until the parties challenging the ban can submit written arguments to the court by Tuesday afternoon.

 

Out-of-staters may have won New Hampshire for Clinton, data suggest --New figures could potentially call into question validity of New Hampshire results for Nov. 8 | 08 Sept 2017 | New data suggest that more than 5,000 people who cast ballots in New Hampshire in the 2016 U.S. presidential election might not have been residents of the state. These voters likely used out-of-state driver's licenses and have not since obtained an in-state license or registered a vehicle. New Hampshire House Speaker Shawn Jasper, a Republican, released the data Thursday following his inquiries to the state's Department of State and the Department of Safety, which supervise elections. The new figures could potentially call into question the validity of the New Hampshire results for Nov. 8, when Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton out-polled Republican nominee Donald Trump by a mere 2,736 votes.

 

Investigation ordered into Clinton lawyers accused of deleting emails | 11 Sept 2017 | A Maryland county judge has ordered the state bar to investigate three lawyers accused of deleting thousands of Hillary Clinton's emails. Circuit Judge Paul F. Harris Jr. ruled Monday that the Attorney Grievance Commission and Office of Bar Counsel Maryland Office of Bar Counsel must look into complaints against Cheryl Mills, Heather Samuelson and David E. Kendall, citing "allegations of destroying evidence," according to the Washington Times. The ruling came after Ty Clevenger, an attorney in New York City, filed the complaint.

 

Protests in St Louis after former police officer is acquitted of murdering black man --Protesters take to the streets after a judge acquitted Jason Stockley of first-degree murder for killing Anthony Lamar Smith. | 15 Sept 2017 | Protesters have streamed into the streets of St Louis after a white former police officer was found not guilty of murdering a black man in a 2011 shooting. Police are on standby in case of violence, and authorities appealed to protesters to march peacefully in a state that has seen racially charged clashes in the past. Attendees at the function wore costumes depicting police officers and inmates, and were met by a group of about 20 protesters organized by "UVa Students United," a student group that describes itself as a "coalition of students from around the University community taking direct action and organizing for a more accessible, democratic, and inclusive UVa." ...The protesters were not mollified by the fraternity members’ claims that they had no intention of "offending or hurting anyone," arguing that the theme of the party contributes to white supremacy.

 

UC Berkeley uses 'extraordinary' security for Ben Shapiro event tonight | 14 Sept 2017 | Hundreds of police officers from nine Bay Area counties were stationed and staged in and around UC Berkeley Thursday in an effort to stave off any mayhem before, during and after the appearance of conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro. Concrete barriers and metal detectors were set up hours before the 7 p.m. event and police vowed low tolerance for violence. At least two people were detained just after 5 p.m. outside the campus gate, where dozens had gathered for a 'Refuse Fascism' rally. UC spokesman Dan Mogulof said the university has gone through "extraordinary lengths -- in some ways unprecedented" so that the event will be a success.

 

Ahead of Ben Shapiro's Speech, UC Berkeley Offers Counseling Services to Students If They Feel 'Threatened' | 08 Sept 2017 | Ahead of a talk from conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro at UC Berkeley, a letter has been sent by the university to students, faculty and staff, stating that counseling services will be made available to those who feel "threatened or harassed" by certain speakers. "We are deeply concerned about the impact some speakers may have on individuals' sense of safety and belonging," the letter states. The letter also highlighted a slew of security measures that will be taken during Shapiro's appearance, noting an "increased and highly visible police presence."

 

Feds Spend $138,000 Asking Four-Year-Olds About Their 'Internal Sense of Gender Identity' | 08 Sept 2017 | The National Science Foundation is spending over 130,000 on a study that asks four-year-olds about their "internal sense of gender identity." A grant for a two-year study was awarded to the University of Washington this summer. The project will interview 250 children aged four to six, and their parents, asking a series of questions about "gendered behavior." The study will investigate whether gender theories, such as Gender Schema Theory that blames society on differences between genders, are sufficient for today's "wider range of human gender experiences," where there can be anywhere between 3, 37, and 58 genders.

 

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray to resign following multiple accusations of sexual abuse | 12 Sept 2017 | Seattle Mayor Ed Murray (D) has announced plans to resign following multiple accusations of sexual abuse after a fifth accuser -- who is the mayor's younger cousin -- came forward and alleged that Murray repeatedly molested him in the 1970s. Murray, 62, announced Tuesday that he will step down effective 5 p.m. Wednesday. The mayor had already said that he wouldn't seek a second term.
