A nation eschews Ron Beaty's HATE!

Parked at the gas pump next to me was a Ron Beaty supporter with bumper stickers and insulting anti-Democratic stickers. It's tragic that HATE and ignorance is Ron Beaty's platform.

Ron Beaty's divisiveness and HATE has no place in the Commonwealth or the nation.

Campaign contributors agree.

Political Notes: Democratic candidate benefits from Beaty tweets

By Geoff Spillane

Barnstable County Commissioner Ronald Beaty’s recent Twitter comments disparaging Parkland, Florida, school shooting survivor David Hogg have led to a cash windfall for Jack Stanton, the Democratic candidate for state representative in the 5th Barnstable District.
Beaty is also a candidate in the race, challenging four-term incumbent state Rep. Randy Hunt, R-Sandwich, in the Republican primary in September.
As Beaty’s diatribe against Hogg received national coverage, Stanton, 26, of Sandwich, began to notice increased traffic on his website and campaign donations coming in from Democrats nationwide, including California, New York and South Carolina.
“It was very humbling to receive money from people outside the district that I haven’t met before,” Stanton said. “I didn’t use this (Beaty’s comments) to solicit donations.”
Stanton said he received a “sizable” amount in donations, even though they were small and averaged $27 each.

Local and state elected officials quickly took to Twitter to mourn Yarmouth police Officer Sean Gannon, who was fatally shot Thursday while serving a warrant in Marstons Mills. Here are a few of the tweets:
Barnstable County Sheriff James Cummings (@SheriffCummings):
“Rest in Peace Officer Gannon. Our sympathy to Sean’s family and YPD”
U.S. Sen. Edward Markey, D-Mass. (@SenMarkey):
“Massachusetts has suffered a heartbreaking loss tonight. Yarmouth police officer Sean Gannon was killed in the line of duty. He was only 32. My thoughts and prayers are with the Yarmouth Police Department and the family and friends of Officer Gannon.”
Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey (@MassAGO):
“A tragedy. Our hearts are with Yarmouth Police Officer Sean Gannon killed today in the line of duty, and with his family and fellow officers.”
