The legacy we are leaving our children.....

LOOK CLOSELY: Each dot represents an active oil and gas well that spews air pollution, plaguing the state of Colorado with haze. Smog levels along the Front Range have increased dramatically since 2010, coinciding with the oil and gas boom. For the past six years, approximately 3,200 new oil and gas wells have been drilled annually, dumping pollution into the state. http://ow.ly/qfZm1

To combat this, state health officials are now drafting new rules to regulate oil & gas emissions state-wide, including those from the fracking-fueled boom across eastern Colorado. In addition to cutting down on smog, strong rules--if we can get them--will help control global warming methane emissions. The industry is pushing back, though, saying proposed rules may be "onerous."
