Three construction workers, driver injured in crash on U.S. 441

Four people were injured Tuesday morning when a car struck a construction
crew alongside U.S. 441 in north Gainesville.
No one involved in the crash suffered life-threatening injuries.
At 10:50 a.m. Gainesville Police Department officers were called to the 7000 block of U.S. 441 on a report of a car striking a trailer attached to a work truck. The officers arrived to find that a Toyota Prius headed south on the highway had struck a trailer parked on the shoulder.
Three construction workers were injured. They had been picking up road signs from a resurfacing project completed last week.
The Prius sustained heavy damage to the passenger side, and its driver was injured.
The crash closed southbound traffic for about 45 minutes as crews worked to restore order. It was unclear why the Prius struck the utility trailer. The truck was outfitted with amber caution lights.
“This right here shows the importance of the 'move over' law and why motorists need to move over when they see workers along the road,” said Officer Ben Tobias, a GPD spokesman.
The roadway was clear just before noon.
A temporary sign just south of the crash along the highway warned drivers that traffic fines are doubled when workers are present.
The identities of the four injured people were not immediately available. They were all taken to area hospitals.

It is called sudden unintended acceleration, which happens
in Toyota/Lexus due to electronic glitches..my story...
Sudden Unintended Acceleration is real, it happened to me in 2005. I had purchased a brand new 2004 ES 330 Lexus while sitting at the red light my car took off like a rocket going through the red light. By the time I realized what was happening my car
was going over 100 miles an hour and I realized that I did not have brake and I could hear the accelerator revving. All I was able to do hold on to the wheel trying to avoid hitting anyone. All I could think that my car was going to kill people. I was so fortunate that no one was kill and what eventually happen I end up on the other side of the street hitting a SUV head on totaling both cars. The dashboard fell on my legs and crushed both legs severely. The SUV driver had some minor damages. As the result of my Lexus suddenly accelerating, I have had 24 surgeries and more in future. My left leg will have to be amputated above the knee since surgery can not do any good anymore and my right ankle will have to be fused since I am in sever pain. I hope Toyota stops the lies and fix those cars rather than blaming the elderly, teens, texting, medical issues or anything else Toyota can think of except sudden unintended acceleration..
