The driver killed in the multi-vehicle crash in Malibu involving Bruce Jenner did not have a current driver's license.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles says Kim Howe's license expired in 2007.

The 69-year-old Calabasas resident was killed and seven others were injured in the chain-reaction accident on Saturday.

At one point during the crash, Jenner's Cadillac Escalade slammed into the Lexus driven by Howe.

Investigators are still searching for witnesses to the deadly accident.

Jenner Car Crash: Not Cleared Yet

There is no “good” time for a car accident, but for Olympian and reality star Bruce Jenner the timing of events last Saturday must have him in an emotional spin.
Jenner is drawing the attention of the world for his “mostly confirmed” transition to a woman. Then Saturday just after noon, he was involved in a chain reaction car crash that resulted in one fatality, his neighbor, 69 year old Kim Howe.
WHO'S AT FAULT?
A Prius had stopped for an unknown reason on the Pacific Coast highway. Ms. Howe's white Lexus collided with the Prius which caused Jenner's Cadillac Escalade, towing a trailer with a dune buggy, to rear end the Lexus, propelling it into oncoming traffic where it was hit head on by a Hummer. A total of 7 people were injured, none seriously.
Jenner took a field sobriety test, fully cooperated with authorities and was reported to show great concern over other crash victims.
Jenner offered a blood sample and when asked about medication he told police (according to RadarOnLine) he was taking a very low dosage of hormones prescribed by a doctor. Phone records have cleared him of distracted driving (he was not talking or texting). Paparazzi were not to blame.

Is the culprit the Prius? Why was that car stopped on the highway? Initially the driver had told police she had stopped for a red light but was actually 300 ft. from it. It is suspected she was making an illegal U-turn.
THE ISSUE: Bruce Jenner could still be charged with following too close, a traffic violation that normally is fairly minor. However, since someone died in the accident it could trigger a misdemeanor charge of vehicular manslaughter. Bruce has hired a respected criminal lawyer.

"My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident," Bruce said in a statement to Us Weekly

Former Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner has spoken out for the first time since experiencing a multiple care collision on Saturday, February 7, that left one person dead and seven injured in Malibu.
In a recent statement released by the reality star to Us Weekly:
"My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident. It is a devastating tragedy and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible."
According to the Los Angeles Times, Jenner reportedly rear-ended a Lexus, after the driver had rear-ended a Toyota Prius. Unfortunately, the driver of the Lexus was killed after their car was propelled into oncoming traffic.
Despite speculations that Jenner was on alcohol when the accident happened, he passed a sobriety test and voluntarily submitted a blood sample on Monday.
It was also reported that paparazzi were chasing the 65-year-old's vehicle, but police told CNN there are no signs that photographers played a role in the crash.
The Los Angeles Times reports that police plan to examine the cellphone records of the reality star and others involved in the accident to see if texting played a role.

Driver had suspended license during fatal car crash involving Bruce Jenner: sources

Hollywood talent manager Jessica Marie Steindorff was behind the wheel of the 2010 Toyota Prius that was the first car rear-ended in the deadly pileup on the Pacific Coast Highway that left Kim Howe dead, two law enforcement sources revealed to the Daily News on Tuesday. Her lawyer said she didn’t cause the crash and police believe there was nothing criminal about her conduct.

The woman piloting the Prius in the fatal Malibu car accident involving Bruce Jenner on Saturday was driving with a suspended license — but wasn’t the cause of the crash, her lawyer said Tuesday.
Hollywood talent manager Jessica Marie Steindorff, who counts model Alessandro Ambrosio as a client, was behind the wheel of the 2010 Toyota Prius that was the first car rear-ended in the deadly pileup on the Pacific Coast Highway that left Kim Howe dead, two law enforcement sources revealed to the Daily News on Tuesday.
There had been speculation she might have been making an illegal U-turn, but her lawyer said that had been disproven.
“The story that she was making an illegal u-turn is 100 percent false. She was meeting with a client in Zuma. She has the text messages that prove it,” the attorney, Roger Simon, told The News.“She met with detectives today. Nothing looks to be criminal,” Simon said. “She was a victim.”Steindorff, 29, had her license suspended twice in the past — once in 2012 for an “unsatisfied judgment,” and again in 2013 for a failure to appear, a DMV source confirmed. The suspension was still in effect when Howe, 69, crashed her white Lexus into Steindorff Saturday around noon and was herself rear-ended by Jenner and propelled into the path of an oncoming Hummer.

Howe died at the scene from blunt chest trauma, the coroner has ruled.
Steindorff did not return a call for comment.

One law enforcement source said she is cooperating with the investigation and signed a release on Tuesday that will allow investigators to download information from her car's so-called black box.
The source said investigators may have to send the data recorder to Toyota to retrieve information such as vehicle speed and braking.
The daughter of a Hollywood producer, Steindorff told the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department that she stopped her vehicle for traffic that was backed up at a red light.
Detectives were out on the scene in the last two days and did confirm that traffic at the light had a tendency to back up to the point of the first impact, the source said.
Jenner already has volunteered access to the black box inside his Cadillac Escalade, a second law enforcement source said Tuesday.
