The National Fishworkers’ Forum (NFF) had its Annual General body meet on 19th and 20th of December at Youth Hostel, Vishakapattnam,(AP). The representatives from various member organizations of all the coastal states and Union Territories participated in the two days meet. The forum passed a resolution that said all commercial ports proposed be given up. Conservation as a policy in India has a salient feature of making livelihoods and survival unsecure for the people who have been living in areas where such projects have been undertaken. Sadly, it is also a fact that no participation is sought in almost all cases of the local people in demarcating boundaries of reserves that have come into being.
