Immediate Funding Emergency
We are on day 15 of the April funding drive and we have 15.7K. That will not be enough to cover immediate expenses. We are not even close enough to let it ride until next month.
We need "everyone" to chip in ASAP.
In earnest and with urgency.

Scott Galindez, Reader Supported News
Galindez writes: "Let's play this out and let the people who haven't voted yet express their preference. Then let's go to the convention and fight it out on the platform, the rules, and the leadership of the party. This process is not just about nominating a candidate. This is also an opportunity to influence the direction of the Democratic Party."

Pratap Chatterjee | Inside the Devastation of America's Drone Wars
Pratap Chatterjee, TomDispatch
Chatterjee writes: "In addition to those they kill, Washington's drones turn out to wound (in ways both physical and psychological) their own operators and the populations who live under their constant surveillance. They leave behind very real victims with all-too-real damage, often in the form of post-traumatic stress disorder on opposite sides of the globe."

Keep Harriet Tubman - and All Women - off the $20 Bill
Feminista Jones, The Washington Post
Jones writes: "I was hesitant to support Women on 20s's goals from the beginning, and now that Tubman has been selected, I'm certain: There's no place for women - especially women of color - on America's currency today."

INTERESTING COMMENTS!
Hard to tell if this article is a parody or not. If it is, it is half-baked. If it isn't, it is half-baked... in either case, not very palatable.

My Irish friend, hopefully not cousin is wrong. He sounds more like an orangeman. If I couldn't be Irish, I'd be ashamed--and if my face represented the bloody history of the U.S. on their money, I'd be ashamed. I live in Tahlequah, OK, USA, proud capitol of the Cherokee Nation. We don't think much of Jackson here--but I'm sure the KKK is proud.

A $20 bill is just a $20 bill. It isn't emblematic of "capitalism, free trade or competitive markets" unless you choose to see it as such. I'm as Progressive and against unrestrained capitalism or neo-liberal Free Trade as the next Progressive, but I still use money for God's sake. Jeesh, get a grip.

I think it is good to stop filling our currency though with old dead white slave holders.

Damn right!

And, while we keep all women off gasp, money, don't forget to visit Ms Jones blog and buy the books she is selling for gasp, money. Or, even better, book her for an appearance, very reasonable terms. Credit cards accepted.

Thank you for writing this, Ms Jones! Putting Harriet Tubman's face on a $20 is a brilliant piece of propaganda, demo nstrating the US has moved beyond racism and bondage. but those $20 bills will be circulated all over the planet, where slavery has been outsourced. It's the same as chattel slavery, but we consumers don't have to deal with the slaves. We can "unsee" them, and feel righteous about it.

That Harriet Tubman, herself brutalized, would even consider being the poster slave that has her face affixed to the object of her oppression--the symbol of the economy her people were tortured and murdered for--is unthinkable.

Snowden to Take Norway to Court to Secure Free Passage
Camilla Knudsen and Stine Jacobsen, Reuters
Excerpt: "Edward Snowden will take the Norwegian state to court in a bid to secure free passage there, a Norwegian law firm representing the former U.S. spy contractor said on Thursday. Snowden has been invited to Norway to receive a freedom of speech award from the local branch of writers' group PEN International, but is worried that he would be handed over to the United States, his lawyers say."

Pentagon Misled Congress About Military's Handling of Sexual Assault Cases, Report Says
Thomas Gibbons-Neff, The Washington Post
Gibbons-Neff writes: "Since 2013, lawmakers have tried to pass a bill that would reform key parts of how the military justice system deals with sexual assault, but during key stages of the legislative debate, the Pentagon misled Congress by 'cherry picking' information, later disproved, about a hundred cases, according to a report released by a watchdog group Monday."
