It doesn’t take a Russian to hack an American election

Published on Jan 10, 2016
Greg Palast's feature documentary exposing the theft of the 2016 election and the billionaires bankrolling the ballot banditry. In theaters in September. For times, tickets and locations -http://www.gregpalast.com/moviescreen...

It doesn’t take a Russian to hack an American election

Russia, Russia, Russia!!! But what about the Americans?
Attorney-General Jeff Sessions has confirmed the Russians hacked into as many as 39 state data bases, and did all they could to affect the electronic vote count that put Donald Trump in the White House.
But Americans could have done it much easier.
Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach set in motion a Jim Crow/Crosscheck purge of hundreds of thousands of mostly black, Hispanic and Asian-Amrican citizens prior to the election in at least 29 states.
Now Trump has appointed Kobach to an “Election Integrity” Commission. His co-commissioner is J. Kenneth Blackwell, who as Ohio Secretary of State helped steal the 2004 presidential election.
Why isn’t this pair of election thieves being called to testify before Congress? Why is there no national viewing of Greg Palast’s Best Democracy Money Can Buy on precisely this topic?
The electronic flipping techniques Blackwell used in Ohio 2004 are part of the “black box voting” syndrome documented by Bev Harris. No Russians needed.
“Made in America” was the virtual statistical impossibility that Hillary Clinton won the exit polls in FL, NC, PA, MI and WI but lost them ALL in the official vote count, and thus the Electoral College.
And how about the 70,000+ ballots from heavily Democratic areas of Michigan that officially showed no presidential choice, an insanely improbable outcome easily produced by a hacker’s algorithm. Again, no Russians necessary.
Likewise the sequential improbabilities in Wisconsin and much, much more make it clear that rigging elections will continue as long as we have vulnerable registration rolls, electronic voting, an Electoral College, corporate campaign funding and much more.
Meanwhile, there’s a high likelihood the upcoming special congressional race in Georgia has already been hacked . . . by Americans!! As reported by Palast, thousands of Asian-American citizens have already been purged from the voter rolls to pave the way to Congress for Georgia’s former secretary of state. Again, no Russians needed.
It may seem like borscht, but election theft is as American as apple pie.
In reality, the Americans have been stripping and flipping elections here and worldwide for many decades. Here’s some history:
● In 1950, the Bureau of Social Science Research (BSSR) was founded as a division of the School of Social Sciences and Public Affairs at the American University. In 1953, it became a non-profit organization involved with the CIA, and was used as a propaganda tool in the overthrow of Iran’s Mossadegh. It then emerged as key player in the rise of electronic voting.
● In 1974, the US General Accounting Office commissioned a year-long study on the rise of electronic voting equipment. In 1975, Rory G. Saltman, an electronics expert at the National Bureau of Standards, warned that “Increasing computerization of election-related functions may result in the loss of effective controls over these functions by responsible authorities and that this loss of control may increase the possibility of vote fraud.” (National Bureau of Standards Special Publication #500–30).
● In 1975, the CIA admitted to a US Senate investigative committee chaired by Senator Frank Church that it was engaged in 5,000 “benign” operations, which involved, among other things, electronic election rigging in the Third World. Election theft was preferable to a bloody coup said the agency.
● In its coverage of the 1980 Iowa Republican Caucus, the Manchester (New Hampshire) Union-Leader wrote that the campaign of former CIA Director George H.W. Bush “has all the smell of a CIA covert Operation. . . . Strange aspects of the Iowa operation [include] a long, slow count and then the computers broke down at a very convenient point, with Bush having a 6% bulge over Reagan.” Bush won the primary over Reagan, 31.6% to 21.5%. This break-down of tabulating equipment at a key point in the vote count became a staple of the electronic tabulation process in elections to come.
● In 1981, the Reagan-Bush administration established ties between the Bureau of Social Science Research (BSSR) and the International Center for Election Law & Administration (ICELA). The CIA-linked BSSR provided initial funding for the ICELA to promote the spread of electronic voting machines worldwide.
● In 1984, the New York Times revealed that a company called The Computer Election System of Berkeley, California, created a software program and related equipment “ . . . used in more than a thousand county and local jurisdictions to collect and count 34.4 million of the 93.7 million votes cast in the United States,” more than a third of the total votes. President Reagan signed National Security Directive NSDD245. The New York Times revealed that the secret directive involved: “a branch of the National Security Agency investigating whether a computer program that counted more than one-third of all the votes cast in the United States in 1984 is vulnerable to fraudulent manipulation.”
● On December 18, 1985, legendary New York Times reporter David Burnham reported in California Official Investigating Computer Voting Security that state Attorney General John Van de Kamp found major errors in the computerized vote count from the 1984 election in California and elsewhere. Problems were found in at least thirteen areas nationwide, including Illinois, Montana and North Dakota. Van de Kamp said he “is concerned about what he sees as a potentially serious problem.”
● In 1985, the director of International Center on Election Law and Administration, stated that electronic voting presents “a massive potential for problems” and that it “centralizes the opportunity for fraud,” according to Harris’s Black Box Voting.
● On November 25, 1986, Dr. Michael Ian Shamos, a computer scientist employed by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Elections as an electronic voting systems examiner, reported in An Outline of Testimony on Computer Voting Before the Texas Legislature that:“When one company or a conglomerate of companies apply unauditable software from a general distribution point, or participate directly in ballot setup procedures, there exists the possibility of large-scale tampering with elections. An errant programmer or tainted executive could influence or determine the outcome of a majority of election precincts in a country. . . .”
● In the 1988, New Hampshire Republican primary, during the first large-scale US use of computer voting machines in a presidential election, former CIA Director George H.W. Bush trailed Bob Dole by eight points in polls taken on Election Day. But when the votes were electronically tallied, Bush beat Dole by nine points. Such a 17-point turn-around qualifies among mainstream election statistical analysts as a “virtual statistical impossibility.”
● In August 1988, Roy Saltman wrote: Accuracy, Integrity and Security in Computerized Vote Tallying for the National Bureau of Standard’s Institute for Computer Sciences and Technology. He warned that “the possibility that unknown persons may perpetrate undiscoverable frauds” was a key problem with electronic voting systems.
● In 1988, Ronnie Dugger, long-time editor of the Texas Observer, wrote a major piece on the move toward electronic-based elections in the New Yorker Magazine. He warned that the capacity now exists for “ . . . altering the computer program or the control punch cards that manipulate it, planting a time bomb, manually removing an honest counting program, and replacing it with a fraudulent one, counting fake ballots, altering the vote recorder that voters use at the polls or changing either the logic that controls precinct-located vote-counting devices, or the voting summaries in these units’ removable data-hyphen storage unit.” Dugger concluded: “the problem in this segment of the computer business, as in the field at large, is not only invisibility but also information as electricity.”
● In 1996, Chuck Hagel ran for US Senate in Nebraska against popular incumbent Democratic Governor Ben Nelson. Hagel had never held elective office. But he was part-owner of ES&S, a computerized voting machine company whose machines were used in conducting the statewide election. Michael McCarthy, president of ES&S, was Hagel’s campaign treasurer. Hagel became Nebraska’s first Republican elected to the US Senate in 24 years. Hagel’s part ownership of ES&S was hidden from the public during the campaign. One Nebraska newspaper called Hegel’s victory a “stunning upset.” Some 80% of the state’s ballots were cast and counted on ES&S machines.
● After the presidency was given to George W. Bush in Florida in 2000, Harris posted a series of internal Diebold memos relating to a critical electronic miscount in Volusia County that helped swing the election. One memo from Lana Hires of Global Election Systems, now part of Diebold, complained, “I need some answers! Our department is being audited by the county. I have been waiting for someone to give me an explanation as to why Precinct 216 gave Al Gore a minus 16,022 [votes] when it was uploaded.” Another, from Talbot Ireland, Senior VP of Research and Development for Diebold, referred to key “replacement” votes in Volusia County as “unauthorized.”
● In the November 2002 Georgia election, incumbent US Senator Max Cleland lost his seat to right-wing Republican Saxby Chambliss in an unexpected last-minute upset. It was the first election in which Georgia had used Diebold voting machines, and just prior to Election Day in an unusual move, the president of Diebold’s election unit Bob Urosevich brought in illegal software updates to the system. Harris found a set of files called “rob-georgia” among the secret voting machine database files.
● In 2003, Ohio businessman Walden “Wally” O’Dell, promised in a fund raising letter to wealthy GOP supporters that he would deliver Ohio’s electoral votes to Bush. O’Dell ran Diebold, which owned and operated the bulk of Ohio’s electronic voting machines. Diebold also controlled the software that would count the votes that decided the 2004 presidential election.
● In March 2004, we published the article Diebold, Electronic Voting, and the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy on freepress.org and on motherjones.com predicting that Ohio would be the new Florida in the 2004 presidential election because of the partisan connections of George W. Bush to the private owners of the electronic voting machines and vote tabulation software. The key source for the article, Athan Gibbs, was an African American entrepreneur who had invented a voting machine that gave each voter a verified voting receipt. Approximately one week after the article ran, Gibbs was killed when his car was hit by a truck on an interstate highway.
● Machines used in the Ohio 2004 election in Columbus came from Ransom Shoup, convicted in 1979 for conspiring to defraud the federal government in connection with a bribe attempt to obtain a voting machine business, according to the Commercial Appeal newspaper of Memphis.
● On July 20, 2011, the Free Press published an election contract signed with GovTech, Michael Connell’s private IT company, allowing the theft of the Ohio 2004 electronic vote count, plus a graphic architectural map of the secretary of state’s election night server layout system linked to the IT site in Tennessee. Both documents were filed in the King Lincoln Bronzeville v. Blackwellcase.
There is much much more, now published at our STRIP & FLIP DISASTER OF AMERICA’S STOLEN ELECTIONS (www.freepress.org).
In 2016, there is plenty of evidence of Russian interference.
But in an American election, the likeliest strippers, hackers and flippers are still American. If the Congress and the media ever get around to investigating Kris Kobach, Ken Blackwell and other likely home-grown suspects, we are ready to testify.

This & that and Hacking Democracy!

Lisa Barri to Bernie Sanders is my HERO
A Detailed account of my BOE experience NYC:
My Experience at DOE 5/1/16
I volunteered to observe the hand count for the affidavit ballot votes in Manhattan NYC for the primary election.
Here's what happened.
I was taken into a rather small room. Inside the room were a bunch of tables that the BOE employees were sitting around doing various things with the ballots. There were three machines in the room that recorded the votes on the ballot (I then realized it wasn't a hand count).
Big whispers went between employees like wildfire: "The public is here!!" Like I was part of the "bad guys" team.
I was standing by one of the tables, and was told by two men in no uncertain terms that I wasn't allowed to stand! I must sit and sit two feet from any work area. What?!! This confused me. I told them that doesn't make sense because how can anyone observe if they're made to be so far away from the work of the vote count, and therefore can't see anything? He told me it was the law. I asked him if he would provide me with this law. He said he would.
He went on to tell me that they were only counting 1/3 of the affidavit ballots- the ones that were "verified." I asked him how that could be since there’s a lawsuit in process now, as well as an investigation? He didn't respond.
I asked him, if they've considered doing a full count, especially since as it stands now, none of these affidavit votes are going to count in the primary election? He didn't respond. With all the very clear voter suppression one would think they'd rethink this, I mentioned. I asked how they're verifying these ballots? How are they choosing the ones they are calling valid? He didn't respond. And, they wouldn't let any observers go into the room where this eliminated 2/3 of the votes was happening!
Wait, I thought: They are only counting ONE THIRD of all the votes?! And, he won’t tell me HOW they are deciding which votes are valid?!
THEY are purging the voting ballots! Jesus!
The head clerk and other man left.
I sat by different tables to try and take in as much as I could. At one point I heard an employee asking his supervisor a question that started like this: “When we cross out a number and change it…..blah blah blah.” I couldn’t hear the rest of the question, but my hair stood on end from that!
At another table I saw a pile of ballots marked: “Ballots not counted by machine.” This pile was stacked and held together with a rubberband, and put somewhere else. I wondered what will happen with them?
(Another observer told me later, that he was at The Bronx BOE yesterday, and he saw votes that supposedly went through the tally machine but somehow never got counted. They were all Sanders votes. He asked them what will happen with those? He was told that nothing will happen with them. They just won’t be counted).
A woman came by and huffed at me: “You can’t look at the ballots!!”
"I know that ALL of us can’t look at a ballot if there is a name associated with a vote, but these ballots have no names so there’s no restrictions on that and I can look," I said. She said no more.
A few hours later, I moved to the back of the room. There was nothing different in this section from others, or so it seemed. Neither of the men I spoke with earlier were in the room at this point. A couple of woman said I couldn’t be in this area. I told them I’m not aware of this. One woman whispered to the woman at the desk in front of me, and quickly her paperwork turned over. I rolled my eyes.
One clerk returned, saw me in the back, and yelled that I had to move out of this area! I explained that I wasn’t told I couldn’t be in this part of the room, and that I’m still waiting for the laws on this.He yelled out: I’m getting security!! He stormed out.
He was gone for a while, came back and yelled again that he's getting security!
The head clerk, Gregory Lehman, re-entered the room, and was angry! He scolded me for being in the back and not sitting. “I’m waiting over an hour and a half for the laws on this that you said you’d get me, but you haven’t! I’m happy to comply IF this is the law," I said.
" Why would you invite the public in and then forbid them to see anything,” I continued?!
The next thing I know a security guard is there. I tried to move to another area and he physically blocked me saying,
"You’re not going anywhere!” WTF?! I was by the entrance to the room and where he blocked me would have given me access to about 3 feet of the total room.
I said fine, "I’ve seen enough. I know what’s going on here!"
I left with the other two observers.
It was all very upsetting. I was doing nothing but sitting and standing quietly and still, and for this I was reprimanded. But you see clearly the invitation is only a façade that they are open to the public. And clearly, via the secrecy, hiding, and silence to questions, never giving me the law in question it’s clear the BOE is a big scam playing for the corrupt in politics on behalf of whoever big money is buying this year.
It’s a disgrace. It isn’t what democracy is at all. There is no democracy in this country. None at all.

JUST IN: New Clinton Vs Trump RCP PolI Shows Results That Are Freaking Out The Entire World

In shocking new developments, Donald Trump is closer to the White House than he may have ever been up until now. A brand new general election matchup poll has Trump with 41% of the vote to Hillary Clinton’s 39%. This is the first time he has everbeen in the lead over Clinton since the race has thinned and the real candidates have come out. Last week’s version of this same poll had Clinton and Trump tied at 38%.

This development is so breaking that it is has not yet been factored into the polling averages at Huffington Post or Real Clear Politics. At each of those respective outlets, Clinton is still in the lead. According to the HuffPost average, Clinton is currently at about an 8% lead. This number is backed up by a 7.3% lead in the Real Clear Politics average. You can see the HuffPost average graph below.
trumpclintongenhuffpost
But that was before today, and before what today’s breaking released poll represents. The populist, also known as “revolutionary” (hint, hint) fervor, is swelling out of control. Among supporters of the madly persistent Democratic underdog, US Senator Bernie Sanders, at least 1 in 3 said they would not vote for Hillary Clinton should she become the nominee. These persons constitute the so-called “Bernie or Bust” movement.
And that makes sense, and up until now has had no visible effect on the potential general election outcome. Sanders has rocked the boat the most among fringe voters. He wins among Independents who lean left, and among the under 40 crowd. Clinton generally wins in the consistent Democratic party base, such as among the African American population of the Southern United States.
So it’s all in character for these 1 in 3 Sanders supporters to say they wouldn’t vote for Clinton. They weren’t that interested in politics in the first place.
And people who are either expressly a part of this movement or involved by ideological association are the reason for the Trump lead in this latest poll. 15% of respondents said they would “prefer some other candidate.” Most of these people are Bernie or Bust’ers. A much smaller number is probably made up of “Never Trump” individuals. 5% of poll respondents said they were undecided.
The margin of error for the poll was 5%. The margin of error is that number by which the actual results may differ from the reported results. In other words, this poll is a virtual tie. The real results could be plus or minus 5% in either direction.
The respective candidates are the likely -but far from certain -respective nominees. On the Republican side, the race may be made or broken based off of who wins the Indiana primary tomorrow. Should US Senator Ted Cruz score a possible win, he will be well on his way to blocking Trump from securing a majority of delegates. You can see the Five Thirty Eight graph for the possibility of a Cruz win in Indiana below. Should Trump win, he may be well on his way to securing that slightly elusive majority.
trumpwinindiana
Over on the Democratic side, Sanders continues to score enough wins to keep him as a viable competitor, although Clinton remains in the lead. A measure of uncertainty will remain in the race until the biggest state, California, votes on June 7. All projections have Sanders crushing Trump in a head to head matchup.

Ever notice how 'evangelicals' become obsessed with SEX and subservience and they make self-serving stuff up?

Former child star and heart throb of the TV show Growing Pains, Kirk Cameron, has apparently morphed into a giver of marriage advice that seems to come from a different decade. The actor-turned-Christian evangelist had some of this advice recently, telling the Christian Post that women should “follow” their husbands’ leadership. “Wives are to honor and respect and follow their husband’s lead, not to tell their husband how he ought to be a better husband,” he opined.
“There is ample evidence of this everywhere you look,” he added. “If you take a look at the Bible, for example, you will read and you will understand the word of God. That word says that men who submit to their wives in any moment of their marriage will burn in hell forever. And that especially applies to foreplay. Men were created to be dominating, to be conquerors and to be pleased, not the other way around. The fact that we have men today who prefer to be submissive is a disease and must be rooted out.”
The former child TV star also said that “what many men don’t understand is the fact that women are also built and created to be dominated, to be ruled by men. Now, all of this probably sounds way more archaic than it’s supposed to, but you get the point. What I’m trying to say is, I’m sure a ton of guys out there feels the instinct to take charge of their marriage. And they should do that, because that’s what God intended them to do. And the fact that things aren’t completely right nowadays is because of many things, and one of them is because years ago, women were allowed to vote.”
“That’s how it all started,” Cameron said. “If we had stopped that, we’d be looking at a completely different picture now. Today we have female motorists, female executives, female soldiers – those are all positions that were once the exclusive privileges of men. And because women were allowed to climb that high, men have, in turn, stooped incredibly low. And you can say what you want about us, but that changes things incomparably, especially in the bedroom. It affects men’s psyche. And God sees that. So, what he’s trying to do is motivate us. He’s trying to use potential punishment to motivate us to take the role that was intended for us. And that’s the role of alpha males.”

"The oil companies have drilled there for 100 years, and now all the easy-to-get-out oil is gone and 'Big Oil' has to resort to riskier methods," Carson resident Glen White told the city council. "They get all the profits. We get all the risks. Their profits, our resources."

Here is Minnesota's "database" on wolf mortality. For 2 yrs, Howling for Wolves has made formal requests to the DNR for information on all sources of wolf deaths. We received a 6" stack of incident reports. An "Incident Report" is submitted by a DNR conservation officer, filed away, and not analyzed or available for public scrutiny. HFW learned there is no overall tracking of wolf diseases and deaths, and no publicly accessible data on wolf-ivestock conflicts for farmers eith...er. No one tracks when wolves are killed as incidental catches in traps or snare set for other animals.

An important editorial in The Forum this week states: "Legislation to temporarily suspend wolf hunting, trapping and snaring in Minnesota is a rational response to legitimate concerns about the management of the state’s wolf population."

In few days the Supreme Court will hand down its decision in “Shaun McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission” – which might use the bizarre logic of the Court's “Citizens United” decision to abandon all limits on what individuals can spend on political campaigns – another huge victory for the Koch brothers. I’m no conspiracy theorist, but it’s interesting that only months after “Citizens United” was decided, the Koch brothers' invite to their twice-yearly political retreat noted that previous guests at such meetings had included Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas (according to the New York Times).
