RSN: Hillary Goes Right for Bush's Gut in Voting Rights Speech

CSPAN broadcast the hearings after the bogus election and hanging chad silliness in Florida.

A convicted felon in another state with a similar name purged many from Florida's voting list and much else.

If you were suddenly told at the polling place that you were ineligible to vote, how would you feel? Hopping mad?

The GOP seems to have no problem disenfranchising blacks and minorities....what if it were WHITE VOTERS?

When the GOP can't legitimately win elections.....DISENFRANCHISE!

Hillary Goes Right for Bush's Gut in Voting Rights Speech

he speech that Hillary Rodham Clinton gave at Texas Southern University on Thursday regarding the right to vote even was better than I expected it to be. It was a thwacking, name-checking jeremiad that took for granted the obvious fact that the Republican party, and the conservative movement that is its only real energizing force, has embarked on a systematic campaign to disenfranchise those voters unlikely to vote for Republican candidates, and that the campaign has been abetted at the highest levels of conservative politics which, in this case, happen to include the Supreme Court of the United States. She talked about how Rick Perry had worked to restrict the franchise in Texas, and how Scott Walker had done so in Wisconsin. Then, she said this.
"And in Florida, when Jeb Bush was governor, state officials conducted a deeply flawed purge of voters before the presidential election of 2000."
Yeah, she went there.
That purge–which is estimated to have eliminated over 12,000 eligible voters from the rolls in a primary that Bush's dim brother won by a margin of 537–was central to the Republican effort to keep the election in Florida within the margin of shenanigans, thereby enabling the Supreme Court to hand the White House to C-Plus Augustus and thereby inaugurate eight full years of utter calamity. That HRC tracks the campaign of voter-suppression back to that ur-event is not merely faithful to history, but also a remarkably shrewd maneuver. From the moment that the Nine Wise Souls of the time cinched The Big Heist, Democratic politicians have been shamefully lax in using that grotesque episode to their advantage, not even when the administration that the Court installed brought so many things to ruin. (The most anger-making segment in Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 remains watching all those Democratic senators hide under their desks rather than stand with the likes of John Lewis to contest the results of the 2000 election.) Now, though, HRC has found a way to use it, casting it as an assault on our most fundamental right, while subtly reminding all of us that Jeb (!) was one of the getaway drivers in 2000.
Of course, The New York Times seems to think the trip was all about holding the hands of "forlorn" Texas Democrats. I already hate this campaign so much.

Kinda disappointing....

from the Boston Globe!

As Governor of Florida, there is SOOOO SOOOO MUCH that can be faulted.....

Former Classmates: Jeb Bush Smoked Hash, Bullied Students at Phillips Andover

FILE - In this Jan. 23, 2015 file photo, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush speaks in San Francisco. Closing in on a decision about whether to again run for president, Mitt Romney is finding that several past major fundraisers and donors in key states have defected to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. The donors, in interviews with The Associated Press, said they see in Bush what they liked about Romney in 2012, namely what they believe it takes to serve successfully as president, but also something he could not muster in his two previous campaigns: what it takes, both in personality as a candidate and in a supporting staff, to win the White House for the GOP. A new Boston Globe profile of potential Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush explores the former governor’s time as a student at Phillips Academy in Andover during the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Revelations likely to get attention include allegations that Bush bullied younger students, was nearly expelled for bad grades and smoked “a notable amount” of marijuana, according to former classmates.

One such alleged anecdote includes Bush introducing a classmate to hashish in his dorm room as the two grooved to Steppenwolf’s stoner rock classic “Magic Carpet Ride.”

The Globe reports Bush has since gone on to call his use of marijuana “stupid” and “wrong,” telling the paper that his time at Phillips Academy was one of the most difficult experiences of his life:

CLG: New Rule Prohibits Voters in Miami-Dade County From Using Restroom, Inside the FBI's secret relationship with US elite assassination team, JSOC, et al

News Updates from CLG
13 Apr 2014

Previous edition: British gave 'full co-operation' for CIA black jail on Diego Garcia, report claims.

Inside the FBI's secret relationship with US elite assassination team, JSOC --FBI agents were regularly involved in shootings, sometimes fighting side by side with the military - James Davis, FBI's legal attaché 10 Apr 2014 ...FBI officials have become more willing to discuss a little-known alliance between the bureau and the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) that allowed agents to participate in hundreds of raids in Iraq and Afghanistan. The FBI's presence on the far edge of military operations was not universally embraced, according to current and former officials familiar with the bureau's role. As agents found themselves in firefights, some in the bureau expressed uneasiness about a domestic law enforcement agency stationing its personnel on battlefields.

FBI secretly worked in Iraq, Afghanistan: Report 12 Apr 2014 The Federal Bureau of Investigation agents have secretly worked with American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan in hundreds of operations, according to a new report. The FBI formed an alliance with Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and deployed its agents in hundreds of raids in Iraq and Afghanistan, The Washington Post reported on Friday. JSOC took advantage of the agency's ability to utilize digital media to identify suspects... The agents who participated in these military raids by JSOC, described by retired General Barry McCaffrey as the "most dangerous people on the face of the earth," and came from the FBI's Hostage and Rescue Team (HRT).

CIA and White House under pressure after Senate torture report leaks 11 Apr 2014 A leak of the major findings of a landmark Senate inquiry into the CIA's post-9/11 torture of terrorism detainees led, on Friday, to intensified pressure on the White House and the CIA to release the inquiry speedily and with a minimum of redactions. The classified study, prepared by the Senate select committee on intelligence, concluded that the CIA's interrogations, secret detentions and outsourced torture sessions were "brutal, and far worse than the agency communicated to policymakers." More suspected terrorists underwent the agency's post-9/11 treatment, which largely lasted from 2002 to 2006, than the CIA has publicly admitted, according to the report's findings, which were first reported by McClatchy.

Report: NSA Knew About Heartbleed Vulnerability for Years, Used It to Collect Intelligence 11 Apr 2014 The National Security Agency had been aware of the recently discovered Heartbleed vulnerability for more than two years and did nothing to inform consumers, according to a new report from Bloomberg News. Citing anonymous sources, Bloomberg claimed that the NSA exploited Heartbleed -- a flaw in common Internet encryption that left passwords and other vital information visible to and obtainable by hackers -- to collect intelligence on web surfers.

Flight MH370 co-pilot tried to make mid-flight phonecall, report claims 12 Apr 2014 The co-pilot of the missing Malaysian airliner MH370 tried to make a mid-flight call from his mobile phone just before the plane vanished from radar screens, according to Malaysian newspaper reports. The call ended abruptly possibly "because the aircraft was fast moving away from the [telecommunications] tower," the New Straits Times quoted a source as saying. However, the Malaysian daily also quoted another source saying that while Fariq Abdul Hamid's "line was reattached", there was no certainty that a call was made from the Boeing 777 which vanished on 8 March.

MH370 'hijacked and in Afghanistan': Russian intelligence source claims all passengers and crew are alive but held hostage --Unknown terrorists are said to have taken control of the missing plane and forced it to land near Kandahar 13 Apr 2014 A Russian newspaper has claimed that Flight MH370 was hijacked by "unknown terrorists" and flown to Afghanistan, where the crew and passengers are now being held hostage. The extraordinary comments, attributed to a Russian intelligence source, appeared in the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper. The source told the paper: "Flight MH370 Malaysia Airlines missing on March 8 with 239 passengers was hijacked."

NATO's 'Russian troop build-up' satellite images show 2013 drills 10 Apr 2014 The satellite images released by NATO that allegedly show a current build-up of Russian troops near Ukrainian border were taken in August 2013 amid military drills, a source in the General Staff of the Russian Army has said. NATO's top military commander in Europe, General Philip Breedlove, on Wednesday claimed that there is evidence of what he says are 40,000 Russian troops on the border with Ukraine, tweeting a link to satellite images. There is one problem, though: the images were taken some eight months before the stated date, the source said. "These shots, which were distributed by NATO, show Russian Armed Forces units of the Southern Military District, which in the summer of last year were taking part in various drills, including near the Ukrainian border," the General Staff official told RIA Novosti.

UK, USociopaths dying to start World War III: UK Typhoons will patrol the skies over the Baltic --Nato is increasing its numbers of aircraft in the region from four to 12 12 Apr 2014 Four fully armed RAF Typhoon jets are to patrol the skies over the Baltic in a dramatic show of strength intended to warn Russian President Vladimir Putin against mounting an invasion. The sorties will begin next month, with UK pilots under orders to respond forcefully to any violations of the airspace of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The four Typhoons will be based at Siauliai in Lithuania where they will join a detachment of four Polish MiG-29s. The Danish Air Force is providing four F-16 aircraft.

Ukraine on brink of civil war after blood was spilt in east - Yanukovich 13 Apr 2014 Ukraine is a foot in the door to civil war, ousted President Viktor Yanukovich said in his address from Rostov-on-Don, where he has been residing for over a month after fleeing Kiev amid protests. "Blood was spilt today," Yanukovich told journalists referring to the events in the eastern city of Slavyansk. "Now our country finds itself in a totally new situation - with one foot in the door of a civil war. The Kiev junta has issued a criminal order to use armed forces and the army against the protesters." Part of the responsibility for dragging the country into domestic war lays on the US, which brutally interfere in the situation and to point out what to do, Yanukovich said. The ousted president declared that CIA director John Brennan visited Ukraine and it was after the meeting that the coup-imposed authorities in Kiev ordered a military operation in the country's east.

Kiev to launch 'full-scale' military op as massive protests grip eastern Ukraine 13 Apr 2014 Thousands of pro-autonomy demonstrators rallied across eastern Ukraine, with the coup-imposed president in Kiev threatening to use military against the activists if they don't clear the seized government buildings by Monday morning. Over 10,000 people have taken part in protests in different town and villages of the Donetsk Region in Ukraine, the local administration said. In the region's capital, Donetsk, the local government headquarters still remain under the anti-Maidan activists' control.

Armed men seize police department in east Ukraine: minister 12 Apr 2014 Armed men have seized a police department in the eastern Ukrainian city of Slaviansk, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said on Saturday, the latest public building to be taken over in the east as Pro-Russian protesters stand off against Kiev. "Armed men in camouflage uniforms seized the police department in Slaviansk. The response will be very tough because there is a difference between protesters and terrorists," Avakov wrote, via social media. A local police spokesman told Reuters the men had not made any demands, but did not give any details on their identity.

Russians warned if they go abroad, US secret services might snatch them 11 Apr 2014 Russia's Foreign Ministry is warning that Russians should refrain from traveling abroad because they could be entrapped by US secret services who are actively "hunting" for Russians to persecute in punishment for Moscow's recent annexation reunification of Crimea, according to an official notice published on the Ministry's website. It says the US, which "unreasonably" refuses to accept the reunification of Russia and Crimea, is seeking revenge by "trying to make a routine practice of 'hunting' for Russian citizens in third countries with the goal of extraditing them to the US, where they will be convicted [and jailed] on what are usually doubtful charges." And it adds that "justice in America" is biased against Russians, who can be "kidnapped" [think CIA and extraordinary rendition] and taken to the US without even notifying Russian consular officials about what is happening.

Iraq insurgents use water as weapon after seizing dam 11 Apr 2014 Insurgents in Iraq have added water to their arsenal of weapons after seizing control of a dam in the west of the country that enables them to flood certain areas and prevent security forces from advancing against them. The dam helps distribute water from the Euphrates river on its course through the western province of Anbar, and is located some 5 km south of the city of Fallujah, which was overrun by militants early this year. Iraqi troops have since been surrounding Fallujah and shelling the city in an effort to dislodge anti-government tribes and insurgent factions including the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

White House denies visa to Iran's pick for UN ambassador 11 Apr 2014 The Iranian diplomat picked to be the Islamic republic’s ambassador to the United Nations will not be allowed to enter the United States where the UN is headquartered, Reuters has reported. White House press secretary Jay Carney confirmed to the newswire on Friday afternoon that Hamid Aboutalebi -- Iran's recent pick as envoy to the UN -- will not be granted an American visa, effectively barring him from beginning his ambassadorship. "The US Senate action to bar Aboutalebi's entry as Iran's designated ambassador at the UN is sheer interference in the internal affairs of the UN," Mohammad Hassan Asafari, a member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said earlier in the week. "The Americans are not entitled to the right to oppose the entry of the Islamic Republic of Iran's representative at the UN and the US Senate approval is illegal." [*Illegal.* Exactly, but for some reason, that never stops the US.]

Heads up! Harford officials test responses to terrorist attack on nearby nuclear power plant 11 Apr 2014 Harford County's Emergency Operations Center a few miles north of Bel Air was packed Tuesday, as county, state and municipal emergency officials responded to a mock attack on the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station in nearby Delta, Pa. "This is a drill," Rick Ayers, Harford's deputy director of emergency services and the county's emergency manager, repeated throughout the exercise, which began shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday and extended into Wednesday. Evaluations of Harford County "reception centers," where people would report in the event of a radiological release, as well as local shelters, were held Wednesday, Ayers said.

Man yells 'Heil Hitler' after fatally shooting 3 at Jewish centers 13 Apr 2014 A man yelled, "Heil Hitler," after he was taken into custody in connection with the Passover Eve fatal shooting of three at two Jewish-related sites in the Kansas City area. Two males were killed outside the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City. They were apparently inside a car. A female was killed a few minutes later in the parking lot at Village Shalom, an assisted living facility. The suspect shot at two other people, but the bullets did not hit them, said Overland Park Police Chief John Douglass.

Manhattan DA subpoenaed Port Authority records on projects and communications with Christie administration 13 Apr 2014 Joining at least three other investigations prompted by September's George Washington Bridge lane closures, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office has subpoenaed records related to projects by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and communications with Gov. Chris Christie's office, a source told The Star-Ledger. A source with knowledge of the subpoena said it was issued last month by District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr., Manhattan's highest-level state prosecutor. It means Vance now joins the hunt for evidence of wrongdoing stemming from the so-called Bridgegate scandal that already includes federal prosecutors at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Newark, a special joint committee of the New Jersey legislature, and the Port Authority's own inspector general's office.

New Rule Prohibits Voters in Miami-Dade County From Using Restroom, No Matter How Long the Line 10 Apr 2014 During the 2012 presidential election, voters reportedly waited on line for upwards of six hours. That wait alone is enough to deter would-be voters from going to the polls. But now residents in Florida's most populous county will have another disincentive: they won't be able to go to the bathroom. Earlier this year, the Miami-Dade County Elections Department quietly implemented a policy to close the bathrooms at all polling facilities, according to disability rights lawyer Marc Dubin.

Rupert Murdoch Reveals His Top Choices for 2016, Says He 'Could Live With Hillary' [Ergo, we should not.] 10 Apr 2014 Billionaire media tycoon Rupert Murdoch provided a wish list for the 2016 presidential race in a rare interview published Thursday. "It's not necessarily, although slightly, in order of preference: Jeb Bush, Paul Ryan, whom I have particular admiration for. I do for both. [Chris] Christie could recover," he said. "Scott Walker, whom I don't know, and Rand Paul, whom I agree with on a great number of things but disagree strongly on some things -- too strongly perhaps to vote for him." Murdoch said he disagrees with Paul most strongly on foreign policy. But how would the conservative mogul react to a Hillary Clinton presidency? "I could live with Hillary as President," he told Fortune.

Koch Brothers pay actors to pose as Louisianans upset with Obamacare

Folks, Don't believe the Phony Koch-Funded attack ads!

The Dirty Energy Kochs are promoting their extremist agenda, like the Tea Party they funded.

Now, they're paying ACTORS?

Daily Kos Recommended

From ABC News:
A new political attack ad from the Koch brothers-funded group Americans for Prosperity calls on Louisianans to tell Sen. Mary Landrieu that Obamacare is hurting their families. The ad shows a number of people, who appear to be Louisianans, opening their mail to find a letter stating that their health care policy has been cancelled because of the Affordable Care Act.
"Due to the Affordable Care Act, your monthly premium has increased," a voice-over says in the ad as a man in a rural neighborhood opens a cancellation letter and looks at his young daughter standing next to him. "No longer covered, due to the Affordable Care Act."
But the people in the emotion-evoking ad are not Louisianans at all; they are paid actors
...
"Hiring professional actors to impersonate Louisiana families is low even for the billionaire Koch brothers," Friends of Mary Landrieu Campaign Manager Adam Sullivan told ABC News. "If the Koch brothers had even a shred of credibility before launching their latest misleading ad campaign against Sen. Landrieu, they've surely lost it now."
