A bombshell investigation has revealed that the U.S. State Department relied heavily on research funded by a tar sands oil company in their report to President Obama on the environmental impact of the Keystone XL pipeline.1

Get this: The oil industry data quoted by the State Department says that the global warming pollution from Keystone will be less than 5 percent as much as independent scientists say.2

This is a huge deal because President Obama has said that the climate impact of the pipeline will play a big role in his decision to approve it or not.3 And it means it's more important than ever for us to make our voices heard and correct Big Oil's misinformation.

The next big deadline in the Keystone fight is the end of the public comment period on March 7 -- just two weeks from now. This is the one big opportunity for the general public to make our voices heard, and it's crucial that comments from our side outnumber those of pipeline supporters. Will you make a donation for the final push to stop Keystone?

Yes, I can donate to help stop the Keystone XL pipeline.

Including oil industry research in a government report like this is such a massive conflict of interest that we hope President Obama will simply disregard the findings that aren't based on independent science. But it's a clear sign of how the oil industry exerts too much influence on our government.

We've made enormous strides together to solve the climate crisis by cutting global warming emissions from cars, increasing renewable energy, and improving energy efficiency standards. And President Obama's proposed limits on global warming pollution from power plants would tackle the single biggest source of emissions in the U.S.

But we can't afford to take one step forward and two steps back on global warming -- and approving Keystone XL would be the equivalent of putting at least six million new cars on the road.4

With your help, Environment America and our 29 state affiliates can watchdog local media coverage to correct Big Oil's misinformation and help make sure our side wins the official public comment period ending in just two weeks. Can you make a donation to help pull it off?

Yes, I'll chip in to help stop Keystone XL.

Thanks for all you do.

P.S. Yesterday news also broke that a judge has ruled the Nebraska law allowing the construction of Keystone through their state is unconstitutional -- yet another sign of how the oil industry and their allies cut corners to push it through. Click here to make a donation to fight back.
