Senator Elizabeth Warren on Banks and Derivatives Trading
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) spoke on the Senate floor about derivatives
and banks, expanding on her comments from the previous day. She talked about a
provision in the House omnibus government spending bill, which was written by
lobbyists, that covers banks in case of an economic crash. This would change a
major provision in the 2010 Dodd-Fank Law. Taxpayers would be responsible in
case of bank failure due to risky trading.
