This & that......The Party of Stupid

Sen. Tom Harkin from Iowa says he is through supporting fossil fuels.
If you agree, and think President Obama should join him and reject Keystone XL now, add your name here: http://act.350.org/sign/reject-keystone-xl-now/

Three cheers for more action on climate change! Last week,Congressman John K. Delaney filed legislation to give states more options to combat climate change and meet the new EPA standards to cut carbon pollution. Thank Congressman Delaney and all members of Congress who are fighting to act on climate change by adding your name here >>http://wefb.it/3D3931

As reported in the Newyorktimes ‪#‎BigOil‬ have proven once again that they are pulling the strings and all the stops to corrupt our government and secure more influence over politicians than the people.

Republican attorneys general have formed an unprecedented, secretive alliance with some of the nation’s top energy producers to push back against the Obama...

  • Attorneys general in at least a dozen states — including Nebraska AGJon Bruning and deputy AG Katie Spohn — are working with Big Oil and other corporate interests, which in turn are providing them with record amounts of campaign contributions, including at least $16 million this year. ‪#‎crooked‬

Today's Morning Reads:
- After the defeat of Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu on Saturday, Republicans now control all of the US Senate seats, governor’s offices and legislatures in the deep South.
- Congress is to consider a $1 trillion dollar spending bill that would keep the government operating past Friday’s deadline. Government watchdogs are expecting the bill to be laden with all sorts of goodies for special interest groups, writes The Hill Newspaper.
- The Koch brothers are “pumping tens of millions of dollars into a data company that’s developing detailed, state-of-the-art profiles of 250 million Americans,” writes POLITICO.
A roundup of some of the stories we're reading at Moyers & Company HQ...

The Citizens United decision put a "for sale" sign on our democracy. Corporate special interests and billionaires like the Koch brothers have been spending millions to buy our elections. But we won't stop until we get big money OUT of politics and restore government by the People. Are you with us?
The Democracy for All amendment would protect the voice of the voter from being drowned out by big money. Add your name to support REAL democracy.

“Barrier Is Not Holding” at Fukushima Plant
"Fukushima is a disaster of biblical proportions, yet it’s rarely mentioned. The idea that keeping quiet about it will make it go away is one that only politicians and their buddies in the mainstream media could have come up with. As the Pacific Ocean, and all the life within it, becomes toxic, the ultimate effects on the food chain will be enormous"

If you don't call them Party of the Stupid, what do you call them?
Not only does this ignorance imperil our nation, but it hinders the ability of the US to compete.
How do you perpetuate ignorance and compete in a well educated world?

Republicans value disinformation and propaganda over science and facts? Guess that's why they call their constituents the party of stupid.
IF YOU THOUGHT THE U.S. EPA WASN'T DOING IT'S JOB NOW, wait 'til you get a load of the most recent pile of genetically engineered cow dung passed by the House of Representatives.
Excerpt from Salon: "Congressional climate wars were dominated Tuesday by the U.S. Senate, which spent the day debating, and ultimately failing to pass, a bill approving the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. While all that was happening, and largely unnoticed, the House was busy doing what it does best: attacking science.
H.R. 1422, which passed 229-191, would shake up the EPA’s Scientific Advisory Board, placing restrictions on those pesky scientists and creating room for experts with overt financial ties to the industries affected by EPA regulations.
In what might be the most ridiculous aspect of the whole thing, the bill forbids scientific experts from participating in “advisory activities” that either directly or indirectly involve their own work. In case that wasn’t clear: experts would be forbidden from sharing their expertise in their own research — the bizarre assumption, apparently, being that having conducted peer-reviewed studies on a topic would constitute a conflict of interest. “In other words,” wrote Union of Concerned Scientists director Andrew A. Rosenberg in an editorial for RollCall, "academic scientists who know the most about a subject can’t weigh in, but experts paid by corporations who want to block regulations can."
Looks like the anti-science House has been having one too many lobbying lunches with the anti-science pollution industries, which includes the anti-science agrichemical industry. We have our work cut out for us fighting the corporate interests and their puppet politicians in 2015. Make no mistake, these are not good people and they intend on trading off our health and our environment to enrich their own bank accounts.

BREAKING: The House of Representatives just approved the Keystone XL pipeline, which scientists warn will mean "game over" for the planet. If Keystone is built, it is expected to make the Koch brothers $100 billion in profits, making them the wealthiest family in human history. Share to spread their shame! Like our page US Uncut!
