Untrained CIA Officers Made Up Torture Methods As They Went Along

The findings of the Senate investigation into the CIA's interrogation and detention program were shocking. The 500-page summary was chock-full of the CIA's lies, awful abuses, Dick Cheney appearances, obstruction, and embarrassing lack of training.

The cromnibus, a huge piece of must-pass spending legislation, passed on Thursday. And while the government didn't shut down, the cromnibus dragged some unsettling provisions with it: oodles of money for the Pentagon (again), a Citigroup-drafted provision allowing for riskier trades, and a Big Coal giveaway.
