CC News Letter 22 July - Violent Coup Fails In Nicaragua, US Continues Regime Change Efforts

Dear Friend,

The violent coup in Nicaragua has failed. This does not mean the United States and oligarchs are giving up, but this phase of their effort to remove the government did not succeed.  The coup exposed the alliances who are working with the United States to put in place a neoliberal government that is controlled by the United States and serves the interests of the wealthy. People celebrated the failure of the coup but realize work needs to be done to protect the gains of the Sandinista revolution.

As the Lok Sabha was debating the No confidence motion against the Modi government thousands of farmers from across the country marched from Mandi House to Parliament Street. The foot march was organized by All India Kisan Sangarsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), which is an alliance of more than 201 farmers organizations across the country, formed in late June 2017. The main two demands of the alliance are debt relief and guaranteed remunerative for their farm produce. We bring you a PHOTO ESSAY

Birthright Trips Are The Most Honest Thing About The Israeli Regime
by Iman Najjar-Annab

Millennia of human history have witnessed territories being conquered through war. More often than not, it resulted in migration and a merging of civilizations that resulted in a new nation, where it was more common for the the culture of the conquered and their structures of governance to remain mostly intact and dominant. That’s what should have happened in Palestine in 1948. Instead, it was determined by the Zionist establishment that in order for a Jewish state to emerge, all traces of the indigenous Palestinians must be erased.

When Karl Marx Fails: Discourse on Class and Caste Politics in India
by Aniruddha Vithal Babar

There is a long standing debate as to whether Marxism played any role in the Dalit’s struggle for social emancipation and justice. The debate is characterized by two currents of thoughts one favours, advocates and project the communist system as an ideal landscape for the social emancipation and freedom of Dalits and another takes a view of communism as an ideology that has no natural space for notion like ‘caste discrimination’ hence not useful model to battle the casteism which has become a character of Indian society.
