BRIAN KILMEADE: These aren’t our kids… it’s not like he (Trump) is doing this to the people of Idaho or Texas

All lives matter? Fox News host Brian Kilmeade promotes white nationalism while defending Trump’s concentration camps for kids.
In a segment of Fox and Friends host Brian Kilmeade defended Trump’s family separation policy by claiming:
These aren’t our kids… it’s not like he (Trump) is doing this to the people of Idaho or Texas
Speaking on the Friday morning edition of Fox & Friends Kilmeade said:
The thing that I think is the biggest joke that we’re not addressing, it wasn’t President Trump’s idea to have everyone leave from Central and South America in June and well up at the border. Somebody has to deal with this issue. It doesn’t matter who the president is. If you don’t like his policy, he’s also open to your policy rather than just criticizing his. He’s trying to send a message to the other countries. This is not the way you do it because this is a country that has rules and laws. The port of entry will be one thing. We can bolster those laws, but we just can’t let everybody in that wants to be here.
And these are not — like it or not, these aren’t our kids. Show them compassion, but it’s not like he is doing this to the people of Idaho or Texas. These are people from another country and now people are saying that they’re more important than people in our country who are paying taxes and who have needs as well.
The comments were immediately condemned by many. MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle called out Kilmeade for trying to justify putting kids in concentration camps because it is isn’t happening to “our kids,” at one point declaring:
It’s ignorant. It’s stupid. It’s wrong.
Later in the day, in a failed attempt at damage control, Kilmeade offered a non-apology for his problematic remarks via Twitter.
Kilmeade is not the only Fox News personality trying to defend and justify Trump’s concentration camps for kids. For example, Fox guest Ann Coulter called the immigrant kids “child actors” while host Laura Ingraham said the children were being held in what are “essentially summer camps.”
Bottom line: Kilmeade’s remarks constitute a thinly veiled racist dog whistle suggesting that brown kids crossing the border are not as important as white kids living in Idaho or Texas. In other words, more white nationalism from Fox News.
