South Australia: Introducing Boof - available for adoption now. *Special Needs*

Breed: American Bulldog | Sex: Male | Age: 2 years old

Temperament: Boof is a strapping young boy with striking eyes you can lose yourself in. He would love nothing more than to devote his loyalty to an owner who is looking for a strong boy in both body and soul and who is a strong handler. He has shared his home with children and we recommend a home with older children given his size and brawny stature. As Boof is deaf he would best suit someone experienced with deafness or willing to learn simply to commit to a different style of communicating with their pet and the dedication to regularly uphold it.

Can be homed with other dogs: Can be homed with a quiet natured dog dependant upon meet.
Can be homed with children: Yes - children over 10yo
Can be homed with cats: No
Can be homed with other small animals: No
Special note: Boof is deaf.

Adoption fee: $400 includes first vaccination, microchip & desexing.

To apply to adopt please email us at sa_dog_rescue@hotmail.com with subject line "Attention: CS Re: Boof - American Bulldog". Please include contact phone numbers and a little about the home you can offer. Please note our application process includes a yard and fencing check, and written landlord approval if renting.

If your application is successful, we will contact you to arrange a yard check. If your yard/fencing is approved, we then arrange a meet with your family and/or any other pets you may have. Once all approved, we offer a two week trial. The adoption fee is payable on commencement of the trial. Although we encourage people to let the dog settle in for at least a week, on the rare occasion that a dog is returned during this trial period, the adoption fee is refunded minus a $50 admin fee. Once adopted, we stick by all of our dogs for life, our adoption contract includes a clause that stipulates that if needing re-homing at any time in it's life, we are to be contacted.

This Beautiful lady is Venus. A deaf, 10 month old Pit Bull Terrier with
a sad story and a lot of love to give. This little girl was found roaming the streets in the middle of winter looking for food. Luckily a good Samaritan picked her up and soon realized she was deaf. She
contacted us, knowing that a deaf puppy was a lot to handle and we took on the challenge. Venus is a very strong, independent girl who needs her family (preferably experience with the breed) to continue her training on being a well-behaved family member and not running the house. She is naturally a dominant dog, and would do best in a home with no other dogs. Venus is still very much a puppy and needs an outlet for her energy so long walks, a running partner, or something to that effect would be ideal. Venus plays very hard and does not know her own strength so we are looking for a home with kids over the age of 10. Venus is crate trained, house trained, knows sign language and is spayed, vaccinated, HW tested, microchipped, de-wormed and utd on flea and HW prevention.
Venus is one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet, she is smart, and willing to learn. She is not the perfect dog for every home, but we are confident her perfect home is out there!

All of our adoptable pets are in a foster home, and for that reason an application must be submitted before a meeting can be arranged. Filling out an application does not obligate you to adopt it simply tells us a little about you and the type of home you have to offer a new pet.

As a rescue it is our goal to carefully go over your application to be assured that it is a perfect fit for both the pet and you and/or your family. Our foster homes are able to easily evaluate each pet to quickly find out their likes and dislikes which is vital information to a successful adoption.

Puppy/Dog Adoptions
Starting at $195 Includes, spay / neuter, heart worm test (at 6+ months), all vaccines appropriate for the age of the dog (rabies, DHLPP, bordetella), de-wormed, micro-chipped and up to date on flea and heart worm protection.

Kitten/Cat Adoptions Starting at $75 Includes spay / neuter, all vaccines appropriate for the age of the cat (FeLV/FVRCP, rabies), de-wormed, micro-chipped and up to date on flea medication

*Please allow 3-5 days to process your application.

Poor Aspen has received no interest, so she's showing her pouty face. Please don't let her deafness deter you! She's an amazing little girl!

ASPEN is a one and a half year old pit bull mix. She is very sweet and very happy to be out of the shelter. Aspen is deaf but she isn't letting that hold her back. She is very smart and is learning sign language to help communicate. She loves playing with her four legged foster sister and cuddling with her foster mom. She loves the water... and going for walks/runs. Aspen is good with kids and other dogs of all sizes but we aren't sure about cats since she has never been around them. Aspen does well in her crate, is potty trained, and knows basic commands. She would make a great addition to an active individual or family’s life!

If you are interested in ASPEN or any of our dogs, you must be in the greater Cincinnati area. To learn how to start an adoption process, please go to : www.adoreabull.org/interested

Her foster mom is worried know one will want Lola because she is deaf and I told her we have a great community of deaf and hearing individuals looking for a beautiful sweet deaf dog like Lola. Please share her lisitng. She is located and in foster care in Salisbury, NC. She is spayed, up to date on shots and HW-. Lola is a pointer, cattle dog mix. She is fully vetted and HW neg. She is about 40 pounds, a medium sized dog. She loves everyone and gets along great with other dog...s. She is completely submissive so I don’t think she would have an issue with cats either. A rescue friend of the foster family tried teaching sign language and had her sitting with a sign within 5 minutes. The lady says she is very smart. If you are interested in giving Lola a loving home and making her part of your family where she can live inside with her family but have a secured fenced yard to always keep her safe. At around 6:45 this morning a fire was reported at a Chevron natural gas well in Greene County, Pennsylvania, just north of the West Virginia border. As of early afternoon, one person had been injured and another was still missing, according to statements from the company.

Twenty workers were on the scene at the time of the fire. While Chevron did not initially know the cause of the blast, the fire chief on scene recently said it was caused by natural gas. According to Chevron spokeswoman Lee Ann Wainwright, the well was in the final stages of being put in production.

Adopt-a-Pet.com

Who is light as a feather, cute as a button, and ready to be your long-time companion?

Today's Five O'Clock Cuteness is Feather, a tiny Papillon pup available for adoption in Peralta, New Mexico. Feather is a little lady, as her name implies. She weighs a mere 6 pounds, but what she lacks in physical stature she makes up for with her big personality. She's very social and gets along very well with other dogs and would probably be great with school-age children. She hasn't yet met any cats, but her rescuers think she'd probably be fine with them as well. When she's not playing with others, this girl can be found snuggling up in a nice warm lap or giving sweet kisses. For more on Feather, please visit her Adopt-a-Pet.com profile: http://bit.ly/1eQJQ04

Thanks, Purina, for helping pets like Feather find true love!

Jubilee's Broken Heart

Read heartfelt stories of rescue, and share your rescued animal stories with others.

On a whim, my daughter and I stopped by a kill shelter to walk through the kitty room on a Tuesday Morning. We walked into the shelter and it was there we met Jubilee. She was a medium hair calico who couldn't get enough attention! She was sweet and in deperate need of a good brushing. We found out she was 2 1/2 and had 7 days left before her time was up. Many people had looked at her, but no one had decided she was the right fit. She was a stray, but she was declawed and had obviously once had a home. She was afraid of quick foot movements and it seemed she had been kicked before. We looked at two other cats, but we were already sold. We were told we had to wait until Friday to verify that she had been spayed at the vet and then we could pick her up!

We visited the shelter Weds and Thurs so she would get some time out of her cage. Every visit she cried when we left, wondering why we were leaving her again. When we finally went to pick her up on Friday, the staff met us with sad faces. Jubilee had a grade three heart murmer and to most people, that meant she was flawed and unadoptable. Had they known, they would have euthanized her and now they didn't think we would want her. We firmly told the staff we were ready to take our kitty home, heart murmer and all. The vet advised us that it could be benign or it could cause her problems. Either way, there is no chance we could afford open heart surgery for her. But our second chance kitty has a wonderful heart, murmer and all, and she is one of the best decisions we ever made. She brings us light and joy everyday and thankfully, the heart murmer seems to have no effect on our sweet girl. We kept her shelter given name, Jubilee, because it seemed so fitting for her. She is truly jubiliant!
