RSN: Roger Goodell vs. Tom Brady: The Ultimate Revenge-of-Mediocrity Story

DEFLATEGATE?

Have we had enough?

Football is a highly profitable, tax payer subsidized GAME.

It's EXPENSIVE ENTERTAINMENT, FOLKS!

Guv Scott Walker slashed social programs to subsidize a kids' game...where's the protest?

Just a few of the comments:

# jwb110 2015-08-14 17:37
I think this is bait and switch to deflect anyone noticing how my much sports team owners make and how the sport franchises are a form of tax-exempt monopoly and while they charge thru the nose to the home team ticket buyers those same ticket buyers pay for those stadiums with their tax dollars.
I mean who are the real criminals in this bunch!?

# arquebus 2015-08-14 14:06
Who the hell cares. We are talking about a game here...just a game. Doesn't matter whether Brady or anyone else plays....or if no one plays. It's just a game mostly played by children.

# economagic 2015-08-14 19:46
Yeah, and what's with this "professional sports" business anyway? That's an oxymoron on a par with "SPORT UTILITY vehicle," which Click and Clack pointed out some 30 years ago.

# beeyl 2015-08-14 20:31
Do you not care when a governor – like Mr Walker – makes major cuts in social programs only to give $250,000,000 (or $450,000,000 according to some reports) to sports teams and their owners? I mean, after all, it's just a kids' game.

# arquebus 2015-08-15 13:35
I wouldn't give a dime of taxpayer's money to professional sports of any hue. If owners want new stadiums, let them build them with their own money.

RSN: The Tom Brady Railroad

The NFL enjoyed nonprofit status for years even though it was EXTREMELY profitable....it's a GAME that is Consumer and Taxpayer Subsidized!

It's a GAME! It's ENTERTAINMENT.

While Robert Parry makes a great case, haven't we HEARD, READ and WATCHED enough about DEFLATEGATE to choke a horse?

Why are taxpayers subsidizing the NFL?

How in the world can the NFL be considered a nonprofit organization that doesn't have to pay taxes?

As CNN recently reported, the National Football League is a $10 billion a year industry, and it's head makes $44 million a year. Even still, the IRS treats the NFL like a tax-exempt nonprofit organization.

Tell your U.S. Senators to eliminate the NFL’s ridiculous tax-exempt status and make them pay their fair share.

It turns out that defending domestic abusers and refusing to change an unquestionably racist team name is not acceptable in the 21st century. And now a movement is building to correct another ridiculous injustice perpetuated by the National Football League.

Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) just introduced a bill that would eliminate the NFL’s ridiculous tax-exempt status—in response to its refusal to address the name of the Washington Redskins. The bill has the support of tribal leaders and thousands of Americans who are tired of paying more taxes so that the NFL can continue to be classified as a non-profit.

Will you join us in supporting this bill, and finally revoke the NFL's tax-exemption?

We're partnering with Rootstrikers to end taxpayer giveaways for one of the wealthiest sports leagues in the world.

We can do this!

More this, that and the other.......that Karma Thing!

In this report on the new Yankee Stadium, Bill Moyers explains how taxpayers in the poorest district in the company were asked to subsidize the private profits of one of the wealthiest franchises in organized sports.

DONATE 1 SHARE to help save a blind horse! ➨ http://hendrickboards.com/s/blind-angelThis little filly stumbled into an auction ring, looking confused and frightened. When she walked right into an obstacle, it was obvious she was a completely blind, baby foal who was heartlessly dumped at the auction. The auctioneer started trying to sell her off, but it was obvious the little baby was worthless to all those in the crowd. Her price went down to $5. A humane observer who was attending the auction couldn’t sit on their hands and do nothing any longer, so they bid on her, saving her for only $5.00... We have parterned with Horse Plus Humane Society in creating the JUST GIVE apparel collection to help save her life! It's already long past the moment, but not yet too late to vote the Republicans out this Fall, and Fall 2016

Go Ohio!
Eight Ohio farmers and local business leaders blocked the driveway leading to a fracking waste disposal site operated by K&H Partners of West Virginia. The ei...ght held a banner reading “Our Water, Our Lives! Their Poison, Their Lies!” and forced at least two trucks carrying toxic frack waste to divert during the two hour rally. The blockade was supported by more than 150 local residents. Be sure to LIKE --> Appalachia Resist to follow more action from Ohio. Only 3rd time in history that both Super Bowl teams have animals as mascots. Nice, but we'll take wolves. Why no wolves in NFL?

Whether or not you are wasting time watching the super bull, you probably have an idea that there are a few taxpayer dollars involved, simply with all the security measures alone. Heck, our tax dollars probably even paid to take Rudy Guiliani out of his embalming fluid. Anyway, did you know that the NFL, a billion dollar money machine, has tax-exempt status as a non-profit organization? Think about that when you are struggling to pay your taxes.

Today's news from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.):

Revolving Door: Federal ethics rules are intended to limit lobbying by former senior officials within one year after they leave the government. Yet even after the ethics rules were revised in 2007 following a lobbying scandal, more than 1,650 congressional aides have registered to lobby within a year of leaving Capitol Hill, according to an analysis by The New York Times.

NSA Spying: It was a packed house at the Montpelier City... Hall Saturday as Sen. Bernie Sanders held a town meeting about constitutional rights and privacy. Sanders focused his talk on the National Security Agency’s surveillance of telephone and email records, according to reports.

NSA Spying: David Cole, a Georgetown University law professor, said the NSA’s collection of the cellphone records of Americans should be a matter of concern to everyone because the government conducted it in secret and invaded people’s privacy. Heidi Boghosian, the National
Lawyers Guild executive director, said corporations are also collecting vast amounts of data. Rep. Peter Welch, part of Sanders’ Saturday panel, said the U.S. has been living a “bizarre reality” since 9/11 in which the nation’s 16 intelligence agencies are operating under secret budgets, the Vermont Press Bureau reported in the Times Argus and Rutland Herald.

Tar Sands Pipeline: Vermont's two U.S. senators sharply criticized an environmental impact statement from the U.S. State Department that appears to support construction of the hotly debated Keystone oil pipeline from Canada to Texas. Both Sens. Sanders and Patrick Leahy say the pipeline would enable a big increase in oil production and add to greenhouse gas emissions blamed for climate change, The Associated Press reported on Saturday.
