Increased Air Quality Standards

Sometimes comparing reporting on a single story is a revelation. The Boston Globe (from AP) reveals a major culprit in the dirty air debate: DIRTY COAL and steps taken by the Bush Administration to prevent states' rights from prevailing in reducing air pollutants:

Experts say expect more smog warnings in N.E. (from AP):

Massachusetts has until 2013 to decide how it will come into compliance, and it's a tough goal to meet. Much of the pollution over the state blows in from coal plants in Midwest states.

In some cases, Massachusetts is barred by federal regulations from setting tougher emission rules for certain industries and vehicles.

Smog is created when the smoke from cars,trucks, factories and power plants lingers near the ground during certain weather conditions and cooks in the sun.
