The Wilderness Society is dedicated to preserving our nation's treasures for future generations.
Unfortunately, the Tea Baggers are betraying that public trust.
While this isn't about politics, the Tea Baggers have made it so. They would plunder and pillage the majestic lands Americans and tourists from other nations have long enjoyed.
America has a long and proud history of doing what's right to protect our wilderness.
The Tea Baggers will be gone, relegated to a single page in the history books, but our special places need to remain.

6000
— is the number of acres of wildlands that disappear in our country
every single
day.
ZERO
— the number of acres Congress has set aside as wilderness in the past two years.
Less
than five weeks remain for the 112th Congress before they go down in history as
the most anti-wilderness ever. There is hope they can avoid this atrocious
legacy: They must take action on the 27 pending wilderness bills that
are languishing in legislative limbo.
The
potential losses — of precious forestlands, meadows, prairie and peak — as the
result of Congressional inaction are staggering.
Between
now and the end of the lame duck session, The Wilderness Society will be
fighting for places where the future hangs in the balance, including:
- Pristine coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
- Spectacular pastel vistas of the California Desert
- The San Juan Mountains and Hermosa Creek watershed in Colorado; and
- Maine’s magnificent coastal islands.

We
