Abandoned Veterans

If we have enough to wage endless wars, we need to have enough to provide for our veterans.

This is such a tragedy. Where's the support for our vets when they come home after war? Yesterday, while at Barnes and Noble, I noticed a very worn, disheveled, homeless man wander in seeking shelter and to get a cup of coffee. He was in extremely soiled and ragged attire. I strongly sensed that he was was a vet who had served over in Vietnam on the front lines. He just had that look of being war-torn. I couldn't help but wonder what his life had been, and what it is now. He needed more than a cup of coffee so I had him sent a substantial sandwich which he devoured within minutes. He probably hadn't eaten much in days. It sickens, as well as deeply saddens me, how these poor vets have been so badly neglected. Supporting our vets should be far more than just a slogan, there are far too many vets that are left homeless, struggling to survive on our streets.

We are NOT done! Issue for discussion: Veterans
Did you know:
*43% are receiving food stamps?
*55% with severe housing cost burden fall below the poverty level?...
*33% of male homeless population are veterans?
*35% of Iraq veterans have or will experience PTSD?

Your thoughts?
