Republicans: Hiding From the Reality They Created

Global Warming is the single greatest threat facing this nation and humanity, without dispute.

Cover your eyes and deny it as you choose.....you can't deny the reality before your eyes.

We can either do nothing and tolerate escalating catastrophic events that endanger our national security, food supply, safety and jeopardize our existence, or we can work to prevent the worst consequences of what we have created.

It's simple science.

Regrettably, the Republican Party has been overtaken by those who eschew science and facts, have postponed and fought addressing Global Warming.

My Tea Bagger Friends blindly follow the Dirty Energy Koch Brothers' brainwashing, ignoring the funding source  --

Even if you disbelieved Global Warming and accepted the Dirty Energy Propaganda, U.S. foreign dependence jeopardizes our national security and has drained billions from Americans.

That does not mean American taxpayers should continue to subsidize Dirty Energy, suffer the consequences of environmental destruction Dirty Energy causes or force taxpayers to clean up Dirty Energy's mess.

Alternative Energy is now comparable to Dirty Energy, not including the excessive subsidies and taxpayer-funded clean-up costs.

[Nuclear Energy is 100% taxpayer guaranteed and shouldn't even be in this equation for numerous reasons.]

In the recent Senate election, fought as another 'Them Against Us' Rovian camapign, the Middleboro results were disappointing, yet not surprising. Perhaps some day, Middleboro voters will stop voting against their best interests.

While Gabriel Gomez sought to repeat '37 years' and avoid substantive issues, paint himself inaccurately as some kind of new variety of Republican while following in lock step, the exchange regarding Cape Wind was revealing.

Please remember that American taxpayers are subsidizing DIRTY ENERGY, exempting DIRTY ENERGY from cleanup costs passed along to taxpayers. The Bought-And-Paid-For Republicans refuse to rescind the DIRTY ENERGY subsidies.

Response to question about Cape Wind --

QUESTION: Do you support Cape Wind? What role should the federal government play in either speeding the project toward completion or taking other action?

GOMEZ: I support an "all the above" approach to finding renewable energy solutions to cut our dependence on foreign oil, but this program is a perfect example of what happens when government interferes with private sector growth and innovation without the support of the local community.

Cape Wind has become a bureaucratic mess that does not deliver reliable energy at a competitive cost per kilowatt hour.

MARKEY: Yes, I absolutely support Cape Wind. It will herald the offshore wind revolution here in the United States, and as with many revolutions in America, it will start here in Massachusetts.

Offshore wind energy will create a new generation of clean energy jobs and fight climate change, two important priorities for our economy and environment.

I pushed the Obama administration to speed up the process for Cape Wind, and they have responded with an aggressive program to develop this and other offshore wind energy. In fact, the first competitive lease sale for offshore wind will occur in just a couple months, offering areas off of Massachusetts and Rhode Island for even more vital wind development. The Obama administration took my suggestions for an auction process that speeds up development by considering multiple factors for lease sales, including whether companies have agreements to sell power and work with states to develop wind farms.

Our future is Alternative Energy.
I'd like to work to leave the planet heading in a better direction for the next generation.
Wouldn't you?
